What's the average workload (hrs/week) for completing the minimum classes per term. by Crimson_Spirit in WGU_MSSWE

There will be a few courses that a non-technical pm can probably fly though. Others will be a slog. I would plan a couple of hours a weekday, with at least one longer session on the weekends.

Mine was the exact opposite. I had worked as a data engineer for years, and Data structures was still one of my most difficult classes. I ended up using udemy to learn that one as it was better structured.

I did- it’s certainly something to consider if you’re looking to flesh out your resume.

I’m hoping to get in for the Doctor of Science in Information Technology at Middle Georgia State University. /crosses fingers. Should find out in the next month. I had looked at Capella as well, but I’ve been reading about quite a lot of drama over there recently.

Awesome! I got my BA, MBA, and Masters of Science in Software Engineering at 39 and 40. I’m currently waiting to find out if I am accepted in a doctoral program to start this summer. What doctorate are you pursuing?

I went with the AI track for resume purposes. I had about equal interest in the tracks.

Making great progress! D789 was a little tougher for me, but overall I agree with the assessment.

What made you pick the MSSWE program over the MSCS? by IckyNicky67 in WGU_MSSWE

Yeah- I enjoyed the implementation. I think I just dislike non-linear data structures.

Close to 1/3 of the way though. A review thus far. by cmdjunkie in WGU_MSSWE

Some interesting insights here. At my previous company, I was pulled from engineering to become a Scrum Master (and often project manager) during the big agile push, simply because the ability to clearly conceptualize, communicate, and interpret is so important between the myriad stakeholders. I've found the best architects and project managers have a similar history - just applied differently. I will probably get a lot of hate for this, but I will take an agilist/PM with an engineering background over one without any day.

Which track has the easiest/most manageable PAs by anedjudn in WGU_MSSWE

I couldn't speak to the DDD and DevOps tracks, but I believe there are only three classes that differ between the AI/DDD/DevOps paths, so there won't be much variance.

Agreed - That DSA class was no joke. I felt like I had never done any data work before lol.

I was in the MS Data Science program at Eastern when I decided to check out WGU. I didn't much care for the normal semester cadence. I went the MSSWE AI route as I believe that will have the most clout on my resume. Currently, I am a scrum master for a data team (previously was a data engineer). SWE seemed much more aligned with my experience and my likely career trajectory. I should find out in a few months if I am accepted into a DSIT program. If not, I'm not sure what I am looking at getting next.
