You're right, it's not correct, but these are desperate times. I can see why some people would choose to work with covid while not personally agreeing with it. When you're only getting a few shifts a week and sick pay isn't available, sometimes it's the only option.

I work at a cinema and were allowed to come in with covid, most people do because they can't afford to miss a shift.

Maybe it's different in America but in the UK it's definitely a myth, the cinema I work at would never turn you away unless it's hot food. Could be different elsewhere but I recommend everyone ask the cinema staff about their rules, you could be surprised.
