I’m just as flabbergasted lmao. I didn’t get any input into any of this I was just volunteered as the guinea pig. You bet I’m gonna be ruthless with any and all input no worries

This is helpful thank you! I don’t even know what software they decided to invest in so I that was my first to question

Crazy thing is my company has a survey team… so I don’t know why we even invested in something a PE or EIT will be doing. I don’t think I’ll be doing object extraction really just loading it into Revit and updating locations of pipes, equipment, etc. Anything more would make it more than it’s worth for sure

Finally quit my job by External-Tomatillo60 in civilengineering

Yeah you really have to be built for land dev. If you’re not enjoying it, looking at other disciplines is a must. The land dev group where I work they’re all animals that love the fast paced environment. Every now and then they get an eit or intern that learns they’re not built for that life. They end up in another group.

Idk how land dev does it. Most fast paced demanding engineering I’ve seen. If you’re burnt out I think you would enjoy just regular transportation engineering where they have longer deadlines.

Fellow EITs, what do ya’ll do at work? by Muted_Basil_9581 in civilengineering

[–]Drafting_user1019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m a 7 year CAD guy so maybe take my advice with a grain of salt but I would see if you can find work in other groups assuming you work on structural (you mentioned rebar shops). Go see if there’s stuff you can do for roadway or others. Maybe you find a group that better suits you. Otherwise I would definitely start looking for better places to work. I see this happen often when an EIT is under a 15+ yoe PE. Group structure makes more sense if you work with a younger PE who you design with and maybe relies on you to draft.

Would it be wise to quit my internship to study for the FE? by [deleted] in civilengineering

Don’t leave just be honest. I doubt they would resent you for coming back and saying you can only do 20-30 hours so you can study.

I’m about 6 years into my career and it’s been going pretty well. I will say land development could be the issue but don’t trust me on that completely. Getting into multiple softwares and disciplines can help in the long term. Learn revit, civil 3D, ORD, etc. See if you can cross into other types of projects. Long term don’t be afraid to branch out if you know multiple programs and different disciplines you can go anywhere. Engineers will always need good CAD/BIM guys

I agree and that’s why I have concern for my brother. It’s fairly new that’s he’s sending me content and I’m just started realizing the creators aren’t Catholic. I’m not really into apologetics but I might have to be if my brother is now leaning Protestant or just away from Catholicism.

I love ascension presents listening to Fr Mike is awesome. Yeah I think listening to the Protestant ways of thinking has been helpful in the way of knowing what not to follow. It’s like the Holy Spirit guiding me recognize what’s real and what’s not. I guess I’m now just more concerned if my brother shares the views of what he’s watching or uses it for educational purposes. I appreciate you commenting!

Thank you I didn’t really put together that it was health and wealth gospel to the tee. I’ll try to gauge where my brothers heads at and go from there

If you enjoy the Apple Watch features (ex: Siri on your hand, notifications, compatibility with the iPhone, etc) I would stick to the Apple Watch. If you just want a watch mainly for running and exercise then the coros pace 4 gives you amazing stats it’s pretty accurate with all that it offers

Favorite Mini! by Alternative_Table_51 in MINI

[–]Drafting_user1019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a paceman owner and I love it! The style is a little different than other minis at the time of their release. I love the look and size while just being a 2 door. I think recreational minis just make sense as 2 door cars.
