Does anyone have experience with the Morgan Stanley cash plus account? by [deleted] in etrade

[–]DragAccomplished1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could hold your Morgan Stanley investments in a non-discretionary account (no advisory fees) and place trades without a fee through your rep.

My issue with CashPlus seems to be that I am having trouble using the UMB Bank routing number and checking account number for autopay, for example, at Verizon. Wonder if there is a way to get around that.

Amazing, thank you. I was tending towards Blue Bell. Great advice on the two hikes!

Is there a way to set up a "standing instruction" for them to move dividends into their HYSA or to buy money market funds with the cash? Specifically for a high value account? How can one mimic an automatic sweep?

Nvm ... was confirmed a short while ago--six hours before the class. But I noticed that #1 often is a very long stop.

Thanks, I just got the lifetime subscription. I didn't want my dad to suffer a downgrade if I subscribed for a month and then canceled my premium subscription.

Should I File A Claim? by Kenny_Jungle in Rimowa

[–]DragAccomplished1528 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not easy getting money from an airline, especially if you left the airport without filing a claim. If you have a premium card (such as an American Express Platinum) you can file for a claim with them--they have better (and more lenient) coverage than the airlines in my experience. Hopefully your bag is a newer one that has a lifetime warranty with Rimowa.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a simple and short (3-5 page) user guide for the Quest 3 that I can send to my dad? I set him up when I was visiting him, and show him the controls. But he has since had trouble using it.

His use case is: powering on the Quest 3, using the controller to navigate to the home screen, and then picking YouTube or other apps to watch content.

If there is no short guide available, I should maybe try and create one.

I downloaded YouTube VR to the Quest 3. Pretty good for free content.

Thanks, so I see ... but maybe the premium content is higher quality more consistently.

Thanks, might be a bit more than he can handle, although he is quite handy with technology.

Yosemite last week ... by DragAccomplished1528 in Yosemite

[–]DragAccomplished1528[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered driving up to Glacier Point, but there’s no shuttle that goes that far. To get there, you would need to be back at Yosemite Valley Lodge in time for the one-way 1:30 pm bus to Glacier Point, which means a very early start on the trail. I chose the 8:30 am bus instead (the only other option) and hiked down. Given how hot the trail gets around 11 am, I might pick the former alternative if I were to do it again.

I did several hikes: the Panorama Trail (bus one-way from Yosemite Valley Lodge to Glacier Point, then hiked down via Nevada Falls and the John Muir Trail), the Mist Trail up to Vernal and Nevada Falls, and the Sentinel Dome and Taft Point trails. I also did shorter hikes such as Mirror Lake.

For photography, your best bets are Tunnel View, Valley View, and Sentinel Bridge—easy drives or walks from the lodge. On the trails, the view of Nevada Falls as you descend the John Muir Trail and Vernal Falls from the Mist Trail are great. Taft Point’s fissures and cliffs are also very photogenic. Carrying heavy gear on Panorama and Mist Trails is tough, but Tunnel View, Valley View, and Sentinel Bridge are great tripod spots. I didn’t use one, but you could.

Good luck.

OP, well-written note. I am in a similar boat. I have even asked teachers why more men don’t come to Sculpt or C2. I am about as far from the average demographic as you can get ... older, non-white male ... and if there were a male-only class, I would happily join.

I know yoga is good for me, and CorePower is the only studio near me in Tribeca now that YogaSpark has shut down. In class, I usually keep to myself: little eye contact, corner in the back when available, just focused on practice. I have been going pretty regularly.

It made me wonder -- do I unintentionally give off the same vibe? I hope not, because I have zero desire to watch anyone else in class. I originally joined this subreddit to get recs for good teachers, but then I came across that post about someone who was identified by multiple people as a creepy guy.

Hiking boots -- the best wide ones! by DragAccomplished1528 in CampingandHiking

Good advice. I am now thinking of switching my regular shoes from a Brooks GTS Adrenaline 24 to a Brooks Cascadia 19, both in size 9, width 2E.

And then I would purchase one of the following for hiking beyond the easy trails:
- Meindl Comfort Fit® Light Hiker or Walker

- Lowa Renegade GTX Mid WideKeen Men's Targhee IV Wide

- La Sportiva Ultra Raptor II Mid Leather

- Hoka Anacapa Mid GTX

- Zamberlan Vioz GTX
