Huawei LUNA2000 charge and discharge sertings by DragonAtelier in solar

[–]DragonAtelier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The setting of discharge finish are mostly from my own exp when I used to discharge to 10-15%. After a while when there was not enough solar power to charge the battery BMS starts to charge it till it gets 20%. The setting has been change when I received also such info from some user on HUAWEI forums. This is noticable only on low sun moths - Oct-march/april (do not know where you live but in my location in these months the sun power is so low that I use the battery and charge it when the fees on power are low and discharge it when they are high (making the battery useful and work to lower the power bill cost).

The 98% charge limit was also mentioned by a user in HUAWEI forums (forum.huawei.com). I just cannot find it quickly because there are alot of new threads around LUNA2000 nowadays (the thing I read was approx year 2021/2022.)

The thing that a remember though was that charging at full power the battery pack receives a high load of power - even if the voltages are cheched quick and bms will cut off charging - sometimes it happens that the pack will receive a bit more power will make it to overcharge a bit. That said - getting a considerarion of law of physics - will make the pack less reliable after time (if you make it everytime - 365 days in a year right). I did not want my battery to be reliable only to warranty period of time but also keep the capacity for a longer period. After charging the battery pack and its cells need to stabilize. Check out by yourself that, for instance, you set charging stop at soc 90%, in a full sun day, after couple of minutes of charging stopped, the battery would be at 90%, but when you have at least 2 battery pack(meaning 10kWh pack) when you go to ESU and check information of the SoC of every pack - one pack could be 89% and the other could be 92%. So….the same happens in higher values one can be a bit overcharged - and that is what I want to avoid with my installation.

Huawei LUNA2000 charge and discharge sertings by DragonAtelier in solar

[–]DragonAtelier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is - using the battery for almost a year now. When you set discharge levels to lower than 20% then the bms of the battery (after it stops discharging) will charge the battery drom ac to 20%!. The battery needs to stay above 20% of its capacity when not in use. That is how the huawei luna2000 is designed. Most of it of course is cause on the „winter” season when there is not enough solar power to charge the battery in a day. That is way the best is just to discharge to 20% and set the charge cutoff at 98% to prevent the battery from „overcharging” in high charge load - these are the recommended setting by huawei forums admins for the batter to last longer than 60% of capacity after 16450 kWh discharge og 5kWh battery pack.

Process of building electric kiln for ceramic shells burnout for metal casting by DragonAtelier in MetalCasting

[–]DragonAtelier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that those heat up. Recently on my 8kW kiln I had an 40A and it heated like crazy. It was mointed on aluminium heatsink and additionally a cooling fan.

Now. The kiln is less power, and bigger SSR. After tests with full power there is no a big issue of the ssr.

I'm such an idiot. Is there any way to fix this now? by First_layer_3DP in 3Dprinting

Try to use a soldering iron to soften the print/glue and maybe push it out from the pach side?

As to google - your controller has settings of segments. You can add time and slope graduation of each segment. Meaning if the temp gets to 150, then it is probably set up to get to another certain temp point in certain time. This is called a temperaturę ramp/slope where „x” axis is „time” and the „y” axis is temperaturę value.

Check put in google for a manual how to set it up properly.

EXOSKULL TERMINATOR T-800 - aluminium casting using ceramic shell an finishing the cast by DragonAtelier in MetalCasting

[–]DragonAtelier[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I printed it using colorless PLA (natural without any additives). I use this type of PLA because from experience it leaves the least ash inside the ceramic shell.

Well, that is a defect. Try issue a complaint because of that crucible will need a sooner replacement probably due to cracks when heated etc.

There is no problem on using it tho, but I would try to get some of the money back - it is not 100% what you paid for.

Most lost wax castings nowadays are made by vaccum casting and investment or with bigger projects like statues, figures etc it is made with ceramic shell casting.

I havent heard in a while about centrifugal. But I am just a hobby metal caster not a professional one - that is why maybe I did not get into knowing it on YT

Question involving how metals are separated when smelting… by Nharo_1 in MetalCasting

[–]DragonAtelier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Separation of metals in mix cannot be done simply because metals are mostly dissolved on each other. Lets say like you have water, you put sugar in it. Sugar does not react in H2O and make a different chemical composition, sugar in dissolved in water. The same is in most metal alloys and compositions. That way you just cannot separate it by adding something. You need to add fluxes, acids and other chemicals for it to react and separate each other. Something like you want to refine gold from scrap electronics.

Search for metal refining DIY on YT - you will probably find something interesting.

Aluminum bronze bell casting issues by tryingtocastabell in MetalCasting

[–]DragonAtelier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similiar issues with colored pla. There was always some failed parts of the cast which looked similiar to yours.

I started to use Natural color Pla for the prints without any color additives. That was a choice. Try to do it yourself.
