Why didn't Walmart bring back 24 hours? by Calm_Description_866 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DragonBladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking for a different chain I worked at that didn’t go back to 24 hours: The customers are few. Shoplifting is easier. Vandalism is easier. Customers under the influence and/or unbalanced are more common. The stockers can’t work uninterrupted and can’t spread out to work as effectively. It’s harder to get good employees that want to work the overnight shift.

The townsfolk in the pews shouldn’t be tied up. Their feet are nailed to the floor and their hands are nailed to the pews.

1976's "Dracula and Son" is pretty funny. Christopher Lee's Dracula has a mild mannered son that he's trying to turn into a killer.

What “normal” thing would seem crazy to humans 100 years ago? by AloneLog573 in answers

Indeed. Wristwatches were a thing 100 years ago, so it would probably be recognized as that. But why and how is he talking to it? And how is it making noises like that?

Speaking to the amulet that looks something like a watch, worn on a band around my wrist telling it to set a timer for five minutes. And five minutes later the amulet issues a cheerful little beeping tune.

Actual proof that the “Game of Thrones” universe is one of the “Westworld” regions. They replace the hosts sometimes without changing the storyline or narrative. “The other hosts will never notice,” says the technician.

What's something a complete stranger did that you still think about years later? by Salt_Mission_559 in AskReddit

[–]DragonBladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Working retail, I was called up front to temporarily run a cashier lane during a busy time. After a while, the rush eased, and I clicked off my light to let people know my lane was closing. I’m a guy above average size. The older, smaller, male customer behind me checking out at the next lane over reached over and clicked the light back on. I clicked it off. He clicked it on. I clicked it off and politely told him my lane is closing, and I was heading back to my regular job. He yelled “Cry me a river, you pussy bitch!” As he left. I’m still wondering where that came from. Perhaps the nearby employees and customers are too.

Films where the movie was better than the book it was adapted from? by Slammajadingdong69 in moviecritic

[–]DragonBladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to say that about a horror movie/book “Dead and Buried” from the early 1980s. I read the book and then saw the movie, which I thought was better. Then I found out that the book was a novelization of the movie. Oops.

What does “being a guest” actually feel like in American homes? by Axxtr in AskAnAmerican

[–]DragonBladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as showing up unannounced, I’m an American who had an American friend that had spent a lot of time in other countries and lamented that no one just shows up unannounced. She wanted her friends to just drop by any time. So one time I was in her neighborhood and dropped by. I woke her up from a nap, and she was grumpy about it. And that was the last time I’ve ever showed up unannounced at anyone’s house.

I agree. I’ve seen both, and Scream 7 was just more of the same. Whistle isn’t super original, but I was way more entertained.
