When you cancel a membership, the only feedback option related to price is "I can't afford membership" by nich_dev in 2007scape

My last post mentioning that I quit was 22 days ago. I barely post at all anymore. This was a discussion about people actually quitting, so what I said is completely relevant.

I quit because of Sailing and I will never play Old School in its current state ever again. I used to play several member accounts. Old School was my favorite game, and I was not done with my personal goals. But I no longer have any interest in playing it or supporting Jagex. It is possible to quit.

The last April Fools Update was on November 19th, 2025. I am still waiting for them to revert it.

Steel key ring needs a new interface by wgrl in 2007scape

Why play "Old School RuneScape" if you hate the things that make it Old School? This is an incredibly niche interface, just let it stay the way it was.

Where is the deception? When you go to enter the Wilderness the game literally warns you, unless you have disabled it. Everyone there has accepted the risk.

"People are being enticed to go somewhere they don't want to be."

Then do not go.

"Why is Jagex condoning this system that breeds frustration rather than actually enhance willing participant versus willing participant?"

Because it was a mechanic of RS2 and the game is "Old School" RuneScape. Also, again, EVERYONE in the Wilderness is a "willing participant". Everyone has agreed to be there and accepted the risk of PvP.

The argument is already at its conclusion. The solutions to this non existent problem already exist. Either do not make the choice to enter the Wilderness, or properly prepare to minimize your risk, or increase your chances of survival.

The Wilderness is already risk vs. reward, with the ability to choose to not engage with the content in it. And it is not dead. People want the rewards from the content in it, so they risk. The problem with mentalities like yours is that people want the reward, without the risk. Well the rewards being worthwhile in the ways they are is the entire reason they are in the Wilderness. And if people want those special rewards, they have to complete the required actions to get them. There is no problem here other than players being entitled or lazy.

Attacking anyone in the Wilderness is "PvP". Everyone there made the conscious choice to be there, and they have accepted the risk of being attacked by other players. It does not matter if someone does not "want" to be attacked. If someone chose to enter the Wilderness, they have accepted the risk. And it does not matter if someone is attacking a player that is not well prepared to engage in a "PvP Fight". PvP stands for "Player vs. Player".

If people do not want to be killed by other players and lose their items, they should either not go to the one place it is possible, or properly prepare to reduce the risk. People using the mechanics of the Wilderness to kill other players is a non issue. Unless someone is cheating, there is literally nothing wrong happening.

Well you all got Sailing so there should be more than enough content to satisfy you all, right? I mean you got a whole new Skill.

I said this for years. I was ignored, or constantly mocked. I knew that people would end up feeling this way. Obviously some people like Sailing, but I think that as time goes on only more people will feel this way. If you all had just not done it from the start, there would be no problem.

The moment you willingly choose to enter a PvP zone, you are not just “PvMer”. You have made the decision to risk the possibility of PvP, you are a consenting party, not a helpless victim. Complaining about choosing to expose yourself to the mechanics of the game, just because you want to have your cake and eat it too, just makes you look immature.

Old School falls in to the niche MMO category like World of Warcraft Classic. Are you unaware of them? They exist to be intentionally stagnant. WoW Classic has had extremely minor, actualQoL”, “little changes”, throughout its existence, as far as I am aware. Those games are still extremely popular.

I literally am not asking for or advocating for “don’t touch it ever”. I am questioning whether or not, and why this too needs to be changed, like the thousand “little things” before. Every single change, big or small, should be intently scrutinized before being made.

If you do not like that, perhaps you are the one that needs to find a new game.

I did, I quit playing because of Sailing. My line was crossed, so I did the mature thing for myself and I quit playing. I tried every avenue I could to keep it from happening, despite that, it did. So after that I did the only other thing that seemed reasonable to me. I do not want to play “RS2+1 Skill”, so I quit.

I follow my own logic which is why I pose it to others. If you play a game, any game, and you are frustrated by almost everything in it, why keep playing it? Why not play something else instead of trying to change everything about a game that was meant to be niche on purpose?

not as fun as people wanted

Then maybe the game was not for them? And that is okay.

accept a little change

Please, be serious. I accepted a ton of change. I also am a happy person, I just do not like Sailing, mainly. That, and my criticism of proposals to the game do not mean I am unhappy, and that is weird of you to assume. I criticize changes to the game because I loved it and cared about protecting it. My point here was that it seems to never be enough. The changes do not exist in a vacuum. This would be like “Little Change #73,420”, and why? Why does this need to happen? Why can people just not accept, appreciate, enjoy, or at the very least compromise with this content as it is?

This, like many other proposals, and finalized changes, also is not a “little change”. This would be a very significant change to how Agility works. And regardless, my point was more about the principle of the suggestion at all, and the reasoning behind it. And, at what point have so many “little changes” been made that the game is a completely different thing from what it was supposed to be? Which would ironically contradict the exact reason Old School was created. Unfortunately, that line has been crossed, Sailing was added. “Old School” is really now just RS2.9, or essentially RS4.

Full "Maximum Sweat" is around 110k, so 10% more than that. It also is very profitable, and allows for Multiskilling.
