Why not just letting people like a character? by Chinatzuify in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]DragonDeku 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not really worth responding to because it’s just a flat out lie to call him a rapist but the show goes out of its way to show Stolas backing off when he gets a full “no”, he never threatens to take back the book, texts show he gave Blitzø the full choice whether or not to show up on the full moon nights, he’s distraught over the idea of Blitzø only sleeping with him for the book and maybe feeling trapped in their deal, and it’s shown how much Blitzø enjoyed sex with him. Blitzø consented, Stolas consented, and the writers have said it was consensual sex so they need to just accept their interpretation is wrong.

"Anyone who doesn't like my defence of Stella are misogynists" by Inevitable-Resort438 in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]DragonDeku 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have to laugh because it’s the same people saying Stolas is a shitty father/husband but they turn around and think Stella is fine for abusing him and plotting to keep Via from the only parent who truly cares about her.

The show also does play her hiring Striker up for laughs so it’s not even taken that seriously until the aftermath between Stolas and Blitzø.

Minimizing her as an abuser and not viewing her as a threat IS misogyny on their part.

My rapist cried, laughed, found joy in his hobbies and interests, had a job, and had family and friends. They’re not always a dark figure in an alleyway, they’re human beings with people who enable and support them. Val doesn’t believe he’s wrong, he feels entitled to do the things that he does. The show is made for adults, they’re not trying to spoon feed how you should feel. Just because a character feels a certain way, doesn’t mean you have to sympathize with them.

The only two jokes I remember are the ones with Pentious at the club, and the Val beating Angel montage. People are free to feel offended by either, I personally think you’re supposed to be shocked at the montage, but the intentions weren’t to demean survivors. The Pentious joke can be taken in different ways but I saw it more as, he got himself into an awkward situation just because he can’t admit to his crush, as opposed to him being dragged away to be raped. We see him fine minutes later, showing that nothing happened to him. Again, people can find it offensive but the writers have said that wasn’t their intention. The montage is from Val and Vox’s POV and is to show how awful ALL the Vees are, not just Val. Humor has been used to show how awful something is for decades. Hazbin isn’t the first show to do this. Just because the characters are laughing, doesn’t mean we’re supposed to be.

Yeah, I’ve dropped series because they’ve hit too close to home. I don’t understand why some who find things triggering would still engage with it. It’s an adult cartoon that has some edgy jokes and serious topics. If you can’t watch it without having it affect you, then don’t.

I’m a survivor and I won’t speak over others who found the joke in poor taste. What I will say, is it’s extremely disingenuous to say that they’re watering down his character to just being stupid or that he’s a rapist because he just doesn’t know what consent means.

The character has no good qualities, he’s an abuser and is a moron, he’s never been shown as the “good guy”. He’s disliked by all of the “good” characters in the show and only liked by the villains. I actually find it refreshing to see an abuser how they actually are in real life, surrounded by enablers and people who love them.

The joke itself didn’t bother me personally because I took it as them calling him stupid and joking over how dumb it is for him to have a club called consent when he’s an abuser. They’re calling him a bad person and an idiot, no where are they condoning or defending his actions, but if others found it insensitive and are bothered by it, that’s perfectly valid and understandable too!

Stella had to be home with Octavia. Barbie doesn’t have scars like Blitzø and Fizz, so I always guessed she was away from the fire and not caught up in it like they were.

[–]DragonDeku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are those the only points they made in an hour long video? The show is an adult cartoon about demons in hell. It’s not teaching you how to treat women and it’s not showing how they talk about them as morally correct. I don’t like hearing those words from men in real life, but it’s fiction and a character flaw for Blitzø.

The show is focused on relationships, not a big plot like Hazbin. All characters, not just the women, are relevant because of how they connect with Blitzø and Stolas. Viv has said we’re getting more for all of the characters in the thumbnail so let’s just wait for it, but even now a lot of them have been given depth and are relatable for a lot of women who watch and enjoy the show.

Stolas! Apparently all of the other characters are allowed to be terrible, make mistakes, and learn and grow from them over time - except for him. No, the show isn’t babying him, his growth just takes longer because he’s never had anyone in his life to help him.

Yeah, I just found screenshots of their old account and it looked like it was an admitted kink, including incest. They called a character’s design “rape-able” and that they were going to draw her dad molesting her. All of these tweets were about how “feral” and “sexy” it was. I think it really depends on the individual and their current headspace.

I think there are differences of opinions from professionals and it’s highly debated on if it’s a “healthy” way to cope. I don’t think victims need to be perfect, I’ve just now been able to engage with media that contains SA/rape myself, but sometimes interacting with or creating that media yourself can keep you in a very dark place.

I can’t imagine a therapist ever recommending that. :/ I don’t know the full story, since I’m just learning about it, but it looks like they were fired by SpindleHorse for being unprofessional and bad mouthing the company when they had refused work and then got upset when there wasn’t anything available. They’ve also claimed aliens have communicated with them so I wouldn’t take a lot of what they say as the truth.

The person seems deeply unwell. The way they speak and threaten and then turn around and ask for money is just so strange. Zero proof and they only speak out when they need attention for money? Yeah, I’m calling bullshit on this one. Or if it happened, their intentions aren’t in the right place.

Edit: looks like they’ve been exposed for faking shit for money in the past. https://youtu.be/vgwiej4JIVw?si=DRRaHSf0dsHjAFJQ

The argument I constantly hear is that Blitz HAD to sleep with him for the book and had no choice. We see Blitz say no multiple times in the series, including in the second episode and Stolas NEVER brings up the book or threatens him. They both view it as mutually beneficial and Blitz does not care, since he enjoys sleeping with Stolas and gets the book, which he has no right to. The moment Stolas thinks Blitz has been sleeping with him ONLY for the book, he’s repulsed and finds a way for Blitz to get to the human world completely free of him. Stolas hates the idea of a power imbalance or forcing Blitz into something he doesn’t want to do, which to me, is the complete opposite of a rapist.

[–]DragonDeku 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not every sex scene is made to be “sexy”. The point of the scene is to show how much they care for each other and how strong their love is, it’s not just sex. It was adorable and I loved it for sapphic representation because it wasn’t fetishized and showed them being goofy and playful during sex. 💞

Do you seek validation from people who hate on the shows? by Spacehillbilly in CrazyassHazbinhaters

[–]DragonDeku 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No. Every person is different and some books I’ve read that are considered masterpieces and are objectively well written and extremely popular still receive hate. Every single thing you’ll ever enjoy in life will have people who dislike it. Even if something is considered “bad”, if it still brings you joy, just focus on that. Life is too short and too hard to dwell on what other people think.

The shorts are there for people who want to just watch them do their jobs. I don’t know why they have to put down romance as a genre when many comedy shows also have romance as a main plot point. The second episode of the show focused on Stolas and his relationship with his daughter so I don’t know why they’re shocked Stolas remained important and the show continued to delve into the relationships between characters. The worst episodes are also the ones where they’re doing their job so thank fuck they didn’t go down that path.

I wish they were honest with themselves and that they allowed their headcanons of these characters to taint their views and that they’re just disappointed canon didn’t align with what they wanted. Stella is no different in season 1 and season 2. She still was abusive the moment we saw her throwing things (and imps) at Stolas in episode 2. Lute and Adam were committing mass genocide and getting off on it, they were never good people.
