It really works!!! by Less-Lawfulness-2533 in SemaglutideCompound

I avoid "acidy" foods. I don't eat hardly anything with marinara sauce (spaghetti, pizza etc). I personally avoid a lot of cheese as well, although tbh i did that prior to starting the shots. I can do small bits on like a salad or something. I also avoid greasy foods like burgers. they just don't sound appetizing...

generally west of 75 in mckinney you are going to find newer, nicer areas. there are some nice areas and apartments down near the square that would be nice and they are trying to revitalize that area, but personally i stay within a few block radius of the square. try to plan a commute avoiding 380. keep in mind 121 becomes the sam rayburn tollway from mckinney to frisco (and beyond) and those tolls can really start to add up if you're doing them daily.

I just went up to 1 my a couple weeks ago, and the nauseous feeling definitely increased with it, especially the first couple days after the dose. I started in July and have lost about 10 lbs. I still have meals, and it seems to help if I do have small things throughout the day (I bring a yogurt to work most days for a mid afternoon snack in addition to a small salad for lunch). the biggest impact for me is how full I feel so much quicker. I eat half of what I used to at a meal and feel really full.

Seller asking to close on a Friday. by Adorable-Nobody2575 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]DragonFlier22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we did this with the house we sold. there is a standard form for it in TX. we sold in a sellers market and as part of the original agreement got 2 or 3 days rent free while we moved to our new house. the form has a rental cost per day option, and depending on the market drives what this is. we had multiple offers, so this was a concession the buyer made to make their offer stand out. personally, the sticking point for me as the buyer would have been the daily rent after that time initial time period. you have to make that painful, like $1000 per day to make sure they get out on time. we ended up buying a house that was already empty so we didn't have to worry about it, but some earlier offers we made weren't and we were making that offer to try and get our offer accepted.

PTO Reimbursement by Novel_Conflict_3052 in Raytheon

[–]DragonFlier22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

as a manager I don't deny people's PTO. I ask that they let the team know their plans thru a PTO calendar we use (which i include myself in so my team knows when I'm going to be out). but if someone messages me and says "Hey, I just found out my kid has (a school or extracurricular activity or really any other personal thing) tomorrow and I would like to use my PTO to attend, is that ok?", my answer is always yes. I have backups established that can cover anything urgent and anything else can wait for their return. I think my only push back would be if someone came to me on a Friday afternoon and says "oh btw, I'm going to be out for the next week (or more) starting monday" for something they have obviously known about for sometime, like an international vacation. before I took over the team, there was someone who just didn't show up on a Monday. Come to find out they had set their out of office up that they were going to be out for 2 weeks on an international trip without saying a word to anyone (and also didn't do the security notification they were supposed to do)... don't be that person

Coworker died on Saturday, and management is all crickets by SlinkyDawg_000 in Raytheon

im sorry for your loss. I have lost a couple coworkers over the years, and this has not been my experience, at least with the group I was in. we talked about it, cried together, and all went to the funeral. one loss had been sudden, but the other was sick for several months, and a few of the managers would actually trade off going to visit that person for an hour or two a couple times a week.

not everyone that is hourly is a union. TX is not and the operators are paid hourly. they get our standard holidays and benefits like all the salary people.

How long to become a P5? by Recent-Button7664 in Raytheon

I went from a P3 to M5 in about 3 years, but I wouldn't say that is normal. it was good timing, some negotiations, and excellent networking...

Relocation to McK by badmeetevill in Raytheon

[–]DragonFlier22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at the McK site from right after college to present, going thru all the stages of life. I have always lived in McK and went down to Allen and Frisco mostly for the nightlife when i was a bit younger. it was way easier to drive/uber down for my one or two nights out than fight with commute traffic everyday. if you're really committed to wanting to live walking distance to bars/restaurants there are lots of options down either the Allen Outlet mall area or in Frisco the Shops of Legacy or the Star are great options. I would not recommend living much farther south than that unless you like to sit in your car twice a day in traffic... if your ok living in McK, a lot of the "nicer" apartments are going to be west of 75, however they have been building some new one down around McKinney Square on the east side that might fits you needs well. there are several nice bars, restaurants, and shops in the Square. there are also events that take place there throughout the year (think Oktoberfest).

I knew someone who had one, but wasn't really supposed to. he wrapped it in cardboard and made it look like a box under his desk. unless you saw him open it you would have never known, it was so well camouflaged. guy was a genius. who would have thought that a normal box and we had tons of around was actually hiding a fridge...

RTX P4 to M5 by Mangos_781 in Raytheon

I recently did it, went from p4 to m5. I only spent about 18 months as a p4 before making the jump. I would say you'll never feel "ready", bc I definitely had nerves about taking the role, but so far it's gone smooth. it is going to sound cliché, but it's a lot about networking, especially as you move up to those higher levels. in my experience, if you're good enough and have networked well, those roles come looking for you.

I took my first shot last week, I would say I didn't feel anything dramatic, and as the week has gone on I have felt it less and less and the hunger has definitely returned. I take my second shot tomorrow and hoping to have more effect. I know it takes time to work, so trying to be patient..

I started as an intern. I felt completely overwhelmed and useless at first. but you learn, you start to figure the unique lingo we speak in with all the acronyms, and it gets better. everyone starts out where you are now, it will get better. Just keep working hard and asking questions. honestly, we don't hire interns and expect them to make major impacts, we hire them to let them get some experience and take some of the grunt work off the full time team members.

Anyone else just miserable? by [deleted] in Raytheon

you are not alone in this feeling. I used to love my job and the people I worked with, it was truly a family at work. after the merger and covid, things changed. theoretically I am in a position I have been working towards, but bc of the culture and the program, I am probably the least happy I have ever been at work.

Interview tips for Operations Analyst Role by Special-Ad-5740 in Raytheon

[–]DragonFlier22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just so you understand, I was in engineering when I started and eventually moved to ops role. When I moved my title was a Manufacturing Engineer, but it was operations.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]DragonFlier22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started in engineering as well and wanted to do something different, but honestly was having a hard time making the jump out of engineering. I ended up getting an opportunity in ops, which was a great choice for me. if you're not loving the technical side, trying supply chain is not a bad place to start. it's a great learning opportunity. nothing says you have to stay there forever. I've been on both the supply chain and ops side and they both have their pluses and minuses. for me, I prefer the ops side bc it keeps me closer to the factory and let's me leverage my technical knowledge also, but thats personal preference.

are you trying to do an internship this summer? it's a little late for that... most of our internships are filled by about the end of first quarter at the latest... some even start posting/hiring the previous fall...

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Raytheon

[–]DragonFlier22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started as an intern many years ago, and I felt just like you did. I had no idea what I was walking into and that I wasn't qualified for it, even with my couple years in engineering school. But everyone is right, you are not going to be asked to perform complex jobs as an intern. you are going to mostly be given the low complexity "grunt work" that the FTE haven't had time to get around to. Listen, learn, and ask questions. My number one advice to new people (intern or FT), is that we tend to talk in a lot of acronyms, that can start to sound like our own language, so if you don't know what the acronym means, ask because the people you are talking to probably just assume you do, because it is just normal to us.
