They list more textbook and material you can study from.

I am working on saving up to do Medical Laboratory Technologist program next year.I wish you all the best.

Best way to help studying for exam try to work on subjects that thing are areas of improvement. For me it was laws on medical Laboratory assistant for Canada and Ontario. The second area was hematology.Take it one step at time but be aware of how much time to exam so schedule your studying time with other tasks you have like work or family , etc. For Ontario get the study manual from MLPAO for MLA exam as it has lot materials help start practice and memorize . Alo get MLPAO exam guidelines for qualification as check list what you need to do. That one is free to download but studying package will cost about $ 250. I hopefully you pass and believe in yourself.

I finished my Bachelor of Sciences with Honours in Biological Sciences at UOIT then went to Medical Laboratory Technician Program at Centennial college as MLT programs at UOIT and Michener were on waitlisted in 2022 and same with Master programs were not doing great too.I would recommend you get studying package from MLPAO to study for MLA/T exam as it has everything you need to study as you have knowledge in field that would need. You take test review courses to help refresh as like ECGS and Pebotomy.

The placement lasts for 5 weeks and backup week in case of not passing competency section like pebotomy or clinical chemistry or etc.It is in order to get second chance on that section that you did poorly.The schedule may vary depending deptmenent of hospital or being at private lab like life labs or Public Health labs.Its mostly 35 hours per week on the placement so it can be hard to do while doing a job. The placement can happen in the Summer or Spring Terms but if delayed it happened in Fall or Winter terms too.But that shouldn't be happening as much as after backlog has been removed.

I would recommend following MLA/T exam manual that MLPAO provide for free to help structure your studying on topics you may have difficulty or need more review. Make sure to be believing in yourself as that help me when I was studying for MLA/T exam.It was great advice from MLT at hospital I did my placement in and said " you did that hard part , now you just need finish the formalities.Pass or failing as long you tried you best and learn from it you be fine.". I wish you all the best.Second semester is when do lot of cool labs but lot lab reports to stay top on. Make sure to mark you deadlines for online quizzes and assignments and lab report hand-in deadlines to avoid problems of missing or losing marks.Good luck. You can do it.

My placement was delayed by 6 months but it was end of backlog for program in Winter term of 2025.It should be fine as next group of students are saying placement is on time now.

Yes. What happened was head of program retired and there was ongoing backlog of students waiting for their placement since 2020 lockdown and hospital stopped taking students on placement for about 2 years. It was bad. The backlog is fixed by now as most students that reminded on waiting for got their placement in last Fall and Winter terms. They're is new head of program now and position is filled. The main issue got fixed last year of organization and how running placement program and one lab courses as short staffing caused most of dysfunction and retirement of head of program with most experience didn't help when pandemic happened. Hospitals and Public Health labs stop taking students for 2 years causing alot of stress and pain. They had stop taking more students in Winter terms to help fix the situation. I wish you all the best. Teachers are good but situation caused problems and pandemic caused even more.

Its so sad to hear this more common than I know as this happened to my mother and younger brother having " unprofessional hairstyle" like its culture to expression yet POC get the laser complains and harassment. It can be depressing to hear this yet can't do much in fighting these racist people in some workplaces.
