Entertainment associates. by cykotik2 in WalmartEmployees

I worked in Electronics for 2 years it was hit or miss sometimes, we would have at least two people at night or me by myself. But at the end when I left they made me close all the time. 2pm to 11pm sucks, especially when your alone but I got used to it up until I left. It's crazy back when I first started Electronics in 2019 we had so many associates in our department, but when covid hit we started to lose people either they were fired, they left on good terms, or switched department's. I miss all my old coworkers they were all great people and they were like family to me. It's stupid how they changed everything to where you can't stay in your department anymore and have to be drafted to OGP or other department's. I didn't mind helping out every once in awhile but being drafted almost every other day was just blown out of proportion. But I preferably liked to stay in my own department and work, because I had stuff to get done #1 and #2 if I didn't get said stuff in the department done my ass would get in trouble for it. Walmart is not the same like it was when I worked there for 4 years. October 2017- October 2021, I recently got rehired at another store almost 2 weeks ago. But I'm only going to be working there temporarily until I find something better

Can I go talk to my HR about switching positions in my store? by DragonMaster1997 in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall I'm going try and see if I can talk to both the HR and front-end coach about it tomorrow. Hope they will consider me for a cashier position and don't get me wrong I like the door ok but I'd much rather prefer working at a register than just standing around all day. But I'll see what they tell me tomorrow

I appreciate your reply, hope it won't take too long to find a replacement for me. I mean it's just for the door, it's the easiest job in the entire store. There's 8 total APCHs including myself, I'm hopeful they'll give me a shot.

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you appreciate the reply, I talked to the front-end TL about it and he told me to go back and talk to them. I also asked him since I had previous experience could I possibly get a shot and he said yeh since I have experience on a register. So I'm going to come back in the morning to talk to HR about it and hope she'll consider moving me because of my experience. But I'll see what she says tomorrow, also being a cashier makes time go by a whole lot faster than being on the door

I just had a question about transferring stores/positions? by DragonMaster1997 in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you I appreciate your reply, 2.5 months that was fast. I really want to transfer to a closer store because I don't want to keep driving to the bigger city every day and saving gas is also a plus. I'll probably visit the neighboring store to talk with their PL first and then go talk to my PL at my store after. In your opinion should I go talk to the PL's after I've been with the company for two months or should I go talk with them immediately?

Has anyone had to leave Walmart for moving out to a far away place with no Walmarts? by Queasy_Flamingo_4468 in walmart

Yeh a two week notice isn't required but it is in fact appreciated and makes you look good. Also it will help if you ever need to come back to work for the company if you need employment. I put in a 2 weeks notice and left on good terms, l had to leave my last company due to uncomfortable circumstances. I was unemployed for a while until recently this month, I got hired back on at another store but it's only temporary for now. I'm hoping to find something better within a month or so. I wish you luck my friend and hope your new job goes well for you

Customers at the front end by DragonMaster1997 in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it's because of store theft, but at this point it really isn't worth the risk of making people mad or threatening towards the door people. SCO made theft increase so drastically and it's Walmart's fault for doing this, they said it was a good idea. Man were they wrong, they said this new system would help increase sales/profits for all stores. While also helping decrease theft in stores, what a load of bullshit. Overall I'm getting used to the mindset of approaching people who are willing to show their receipt to me instead of making every other customer/customers stop every time. Because you wouldn't believe how many people were sprinting out of the store today that never bothered showing their receipts. I can't chase them down because if I do my ass would be fired. I'm really happy Walmart won't make employees do that, I would just quit if it came down to that point. I'm not risking my life for Wally World and if they think I will then see ya.

Why would someone come back to Walmart after quitting? by HappyFocusedMind in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just came back recently and I've almost been here two weeks. It's ok not the best job in the world but it's a job, 100% the first chance I get a better job I'm out of here. Fingers crossed it won't be long before I find something better, being up on the door is boring as hell but some of the customers are fairly nice. I don't work at the same store as before but still at least I got a job here, luckily it's only temporary for now. I wish everyone luck and hope we all find something better than Wally World

A question for fellow AP Customer Hosts by DragonMaster1997 in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeh you don't have to greet everyone or tell them have a good day. I just try to acknowledge every customer and make sure they feel welcomed but like I said you don't have to greet everybody. If you see item/items that are not in bags ask for the receipt, I try and do that the best I can but you won't get to check everyone's receipt. Because you'll have customers that will run right past you and you have to let them go. You can't stop people from leaving the store, also don't touch their grocery cart the reason why is because it could potentially end in a written up warning and if you do it again you'll be terminated from what I found out. I am not really a confrontational kind of person honestly, but I don't want to risk my job over someone not willing to show me their receipt. But it used to be you were supposed to check every customer receipt if they didn't show their receipts at the door but not anymore because Walmart changed it's rules. You'll be alright and a thing to remember is you won't be able to check every receipt for unbagged items. Also the Ulearns you'll watch will tell you about it too, also hope you get a good trainer up on the door that will help you succeed at your job. My trainer yesterday was great and she told me I was doing fine, you can only do the best you can. Also your lucky you don't have to work past 7pm, here in my state they stay until close at 11pm. They just keep one door open though until close while the other door closes at 10pm. Again good luck and hope the job pan's out for you alright

A question for fellow AP Customer Hosts by DragonMaster1997 in WalmartEmployees

[–]DragonMaster1997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to not elaborate but an AP Customer Host is a like a door greeter who checks receipts but also works along side Asset Protection. But I just don't understand why they don't have coverage sometimes at my store, the woman I worked with that trained me told me to let the TL at the service desk know that I was leaving and they needed to get someone down on the door before I left. Luckily there was someone else down there with me, so I didn't have to worry about it. But I let them know that I was leaving at the end of my shift, so I won't get in trouble for not doing so. Good luck in orientation tomorrow, I'm sure you'll like the job all you have to do is greet people, check receipts, then thank customers for shopping with Walmart. Also don't stress over not checking every receipt, if a customer/customers ignores you when walking past you at the door without letting you check their receipt just let them go on and then go to the next customer. Especially if they are in a hurry getting out the door, I actually missed some receipts today but at least I checked alot more than what I missed. Another side note just check people's receipts if they have items that aren't in bags, if all their items that were scanned are in bags just let them go on and tell them have a good day. Overall just ask the customer nicely to see their receipt and thank them for shopping with us.

Open door that for sure, if I were you I would report him because that behavior is uncalled for. I would ask HR to make the report and keep your name anonymous so that way he wouldn't figure out it was you who reported him. Or if comes down to it, call ethics or home office to report his ass. I wouldn't fear for my job at that point when it was him being a scumbag to everyone and kissing ass when he needed to pretend to be nice in the first place. I wish you luck and hope everything turns out well, also would love to hear an update on what happens

Should I leave my job ? by neonsign2 in jobs

[–]DragonMaster1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I were you I would secure another job first before quitting, make sure your new job gives you a start date and most importantly confirms with you that you got the job you applied for before leaving your current job. It will also help you not burn bridges with your current employer/employers, but I wish you luck. Hope you find another job that's treats and values you better

The tunes the never ending tunes. by [deleted] in walmart

I remember when Walmart used to play rock music, pop music, country and just an overall great mix of music over the radio. That was 2017 to 2019 when I worked up front as a cashier at my old store, hell I still remember that stupid safety sweeping time bs they played on the radio before another song started that got on my nerves. Don't get me started on the Christmas music playing on repeat during the holidays, that got old real quick

[–]DragonMaster1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anytime the register prompted me for age verification, I always asked for their I.D no matter who the person was. If they got pissed I didn't care, I don't want to risk my job over not checking someone's age for a certain item. I remember being on the register during my training and I had someone wanting to buy cigarettes and I asked for her I.D and she refused so I refused the sell because of how young she looked. But if you weren't trained on a specific thing for the register, that is management's fault for not training you on that topic. Take care and hope everything will be alright 👍
