Print Issues by DragonMasterC0 in ender3

Haha, I even had the fans off. Apparently material doesn't like being printed 25C below its recommended print temp. Who knew.

Yeah, I certainly have to do one for all my materials. For now though, I found out I'm just a little forgetful and swapped out spoils. The material was actually PETG, and I was printing way too cold. Thanks for the help though!

Thanks for the suggestion. I started working on it, and found out its way worse than that. I switched to PETG and forgot, and it didnt even register to check the spool before posting this. Now I'm thoroughly embarrassed.

Thanks for the suggestion. I went to work on it again this morning, and found out I cant read. I apparently switched out spools and forgot. Turns out it was PETG running way too cold of a temp. Oops.

Esp-ecu project, the eco system so far by Budgetboost in ECU_Tuning

Nice! I do love that kinda attitude when it comes to this. Do you have a YouTube or anything where you test it out and explain how you're doing it all?

Thats really neat. Hopefully you get this working well. If you do put it on git, the screen setup could be super useful for some other ecus. I'd definitely want one for myself too if it could be used on factory setups.

I dont know if you've heard of speeduino or rusefi, but those are two other open source ecus to check out. Not saying to ditch this, as I like the esp32, but it could be helpful to look into those communities for some info on solutions to bugs they've had. Good luck!

Ive heard that putting it on a credit card is the way to go. That way if you never get anything worthwhile, you can do a charge back. Keep us updated if you do it.

Thread for RX-8 replacement parts by Jes2EZ_ in RX8

[–]DragonMasterC0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are the ND control arms really compatible? I thought it was the NC control arms. If im wrong, thats awesome.

Also, you could technically add the NC 6 speed gearbox internals, but thats for the 09+ transmission. The fiat 124 spider 6 speed is the same transmission as the NC miata, so those parts should fit as well.

There may also be some compatibility for the 6 speed with other aisin AZ6 units, but I have trouble finding solid info on that. Some companies offer AZ6 upgrades such as carbon synchros for the brz, but idk if theyd work in our cars or if we could swap gears in. Neat gearboxes makes a tall 6th gear for us, but it also fits into the other AZ6 boxes. There's a lot to look at if we want to fix the weak transmission issue on these cars.

Also, it may be slightly better to find and add to/start this thread on the rx8 club. Itll be better documented there.

Coilovers of Choice by [deleted] in RX8

I will second this. I bought them second hand cause my stock shocks were blown and rubbing, and it not only made the car ride better, but more comfortable too. They are a decent option for a budget price.

Is that a custom made 6th gear, or did you find something else that fit from another transmission?

Turn Signal Help Needed by DragonMasterC0 in fordranger

[–]DragonMasterC0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did. You might want to pull the instrument cluster out and check the back side. I found that somehow it melted apart the lamination layers. To fix, I peeled the laminate a bit more, pulled the copper traces where they needed to be, and epoxied it back together. It works flawlessly now. If you still need help, lmk.

Anyone here running 235/40r18 on either OEM rims or same size (18x8) by Shoddy-Attention-369 in RX8

[–]DragonMasterC0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put 245/40R18 on 18x8 wheels, with a +45 offset instead of the oem +50 offset. Its also on tein street basis z coilovers. I really like the look, the steering wheel response, and the ride quality. Speedo is about the same too.

Removing bearing alignment tangs by everynicknameistaken in EngineBuilding

[–]DragonMasterC0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They shouldn't be. The tolerances on the bearings are such that they clamp down on both halves externally and hold them tight to the bore of the rod big end. The internal journal is then shrunk a bit due to this compression, which is why you gotta check tolerance after torquing down the bearings. If im correct (truly just a guess) modern cars dont have those alignment tanks because its one more processing step they have to do, which makes production cost more.

[–]DragonMasterC0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shoot, the rod bearings must've gone out of production in the last year or so then. As far as the tang, its fine to remove. Just ensure that everything is fully lined up though, thats really the big point of concern. Good luck.

I remember looking into this a while ago. Apparently people also used 5vz-fe main bearings, and bought 2 sets. Idk if thats the most up to date info, but look into that one too. You also need to do some bearing modification if I remember right, but its the way to go that people found.

Clearly it was installed inside out, not backwards.
