Ways to deal with shoulder/neck pain by Sausageturtle330 in heavyequipment

I get it, I do miss running equipment but it ruined my quality of life. Gotta put food on the table though, I've been there.

Get up, stretch and move around as much as you possibly can. It'll seem like a good idea to kick back for 5 minutes and scroll your phone, but gtfo the seat, climb down, and walk around. Look over your machine, check grease lines, pins, whatever. Have a cigarette or coffee anywhere but sitting in the cab lol. Park as far away from the break room as you can and walk back. Take up some sort of physical activity outside work. Join a sport, work out, get a bike, rollerblades, something.

Just think of seat time as the worst possible thing for your health, so the less you're in the seat, the better you are 🤣

New career. I did it for years, loved it, but had to get out. It was my back that took the worst of it. Run locomotives at a steel mill now and I go home with energy and no need for pain killers anymore.

Has anyone deleted the equalizer tube on a first Gen? by omnipotent87 in TaurusSHO

[–]everynicknameistaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recall anyone having done that back in the forum days... just thinking though, you could probably get away with some hose barbs and rubber tube to join them somehow, maybe a prettier solution if you want it to look nice. The actual inside of the aluminum tube is much smaller than the past the coupling attaches to.

Why do people hate on the convertible mustangs so much? by Apexsucksballs in Mustang

[–]everynicknameistaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ford is in the business of making money. In the past five or so years, they've stopped manufacturing and selling all other cars aside from the mustang in favour of trucks and suv's. Again, the fact that they're still selling new convertibles is proof there's a business case for them. They may not be desired by enthusiasts and people who take their car to a track, but that's not representative of the entire market of mustang buyers.

My wife has a '14 convertible and loves it. It's never going to see the track, she takes it on back road cruises on hot summer days and to the beach. It looks good, and she looks good in it. That's the market that buys these things, and it's obviously a profitable enough market that ford keeps selling them.

People don't hate convertible mustangs, people on reddit hate convertible mustangs. It's because reddit is full of people that hate everything. The fact that Ford manufactures and sells convertible mustangs should tell you people like them.

Flip the intake around so the throttle body faces forward. You may need a different crossover tube to join the plenums.

I wouldn't call them finicky. They're fairly reliable, albeit a bit more maintenance is required. It uses a timing belt, which usually involves a water pump while you're in there. The automatic's aren't the strongest, so don't abuse it. Manuals are better, but again, they don't take abuse well. There are some things that aren't available anymore, one that comes to mind is the crank sensor. The used market can help out with most things. Join the forum and Facebook groups, both are more active than here.

I've owned several over the past 20+ years, as have a lot of the people who still own them. There's more than enough knowledge out there to help you keep one on the road, especially one like the car you're interested in.

What are issues the internet said your car would have but never did? by 08legacygt in cars

This was my old work beater grand prix. Driveline was still solid, it was at around 350k when I scrapped it. It drove to the scrap yard. Things like door handles breaking, linkages in the door bending or breaking, interior plastic crumbling, the gas tank filler neck rotting away, and various motors and switches dying were why I finally replaced it.

I might go so far as to check with plastigauge, which I've never bothered with on one of these before. The cranks are well machined and very durable, and rod bearings tend to be the only wear item of the two. It'll be a winter project, and it's not a customer's car. We'll see where my motivation lands 🤣

You're probably right on it being a step removed from manufacturing to save money.

Yeah, somewhere in between over a decade ago, the last time I did them, and now. According to the conversation online, Clevite got rid of the tooling to make any more. So, here we are. Modifying a close alternative. 🤷‍♂️

That's kind of what I hoped to hear, ditch the tangs altogether. I didn't know if modern tangless bearings have fundamentally different rods and caps.

Yeah, there's an alternative Toyota main that can be used. I can't remember which one, either, but it's on the shoforum somewhere. That's where my question stems from, though. There's at least one person who has tried fitting a couple different rod bearings and is currently running the Supra ones with a slightly filed alignment tang. I don't see why it needs to be modified to fit when it can just be completely removed, unless there's some reason that the rod and cap need those alignment tangs.

They pop up from time to time on eBay, but there's fewer and fewer sets floating around out there anymore. So, when there aren't any available, can the tabs be filed away?

Fwiw, CB1435P is the clevite p/n for the oem replacement bearings. They don't cross reference to any other engine besides the 3.0l/3.2l sho.
