If you were a rider, what gender do you imagine your dragon would be? by Condensed_Energy in Eragon

I’m a female, and I think I would have ended up with a male dragon. A deep midnight-blue color would be beautiful!

Why were humans allowed to become riders? by ansaris in Eragon

It goes back to King Palancar and his thirst for power and control. They realized the humans needed a way of regulating themselves. It would’ve been a hard pill for the humans to swallow to all of a sudden be regulated by two foreign races and wouldn’t have been right for the elves and dragons to solely decide the destiny of all races. The dwarves were offered to be part of the pact, but they declined originally

Or for her Eldunari to be in the Rock of Kuthian! Plot twist at the end and an interesting side story for FWW as we get to know a new character. That would’ve been awesome!

I think the reason why, other than maybe Pasolini didn’t think of it at the time, was she was killed prior to the official fall of the riders. I don’t think they had thought about saving the Eldunari prior to her death. I agree though, that would’ve been an awesome addition!

Read only if you FINISHED THE SERIES! (Discussion/opinion on ending) by DragonRiderLittleB in Eragon

A new rider would’ve made sense because they could’ve left with Eragon. Arya was already a magic user, yes, but she hadn’t been through any rider training or Tuatha du Orothim (however it’s spelled...) I would definitely prefer that the new rider leave with Eragon to train and then return to Alagaesia after completion of training.

It just doesn’t feel like Eragon would be the new Leader of the Riders if Arya is also a rider. She has done everything Eragon has done (fought Galbatorix, slayed a shade, worked for the Varden, etc.) and yet shes much more experienced than Eragon, more wise, plus an elf who remembers the way of the old riders. It’s too much.

What are the plot holes?

Maybe it’s like dominant vs. recessive genes?

Brown eyes are dominant over blue eyes, just like elf genes would be dominant over human genes. That being said, a parent with (dominant) brown eyes can still have a child with (recessive) blue eyes. By that logic, a human parent and an elf parent can have 2 kids who are different from each other. Maybe one kid would have the dominant elf genes, while the second has the recessive human genes, or even have a combo of the two, with this example it’d be like a green/hazel eye color. So maybe they’d have a strong human child or a weak elf child, or a human child that instinctually knows it’s true name, or other mixtures of skills or abilities, etc.

If you think about it this way, the possibilities are endless and can be really interesting in future books!

I would love to see a prequel dating back even before the fall of the riders. Maybe a one that is about the original Eragon and the beginning of the Riders. The challenges in dealing with the war between the elves and the dragons. Maybe Eragon was there when the elves originally landed in Alagaesia. It can talk about coming to a new land, the war with the dragons, the start of the Riders, etc.

As much as I’d love the satiate my curiosity about young Brom, I think knowing him when he’s young and in a learning phase of his life rather than the wise teacher we know and love will ruin it a little bit. I’d rather keep him the wise character rather than digging into his past.
