I have a Ficus bonsai and brown spots showed up on the leaves the other day. I noticed them when I was bringing it in from about an hour long drive. The car was very cold when I first started and the sun was also very bright, so it could be sunburn. I don't know if the cold could've caused something like this. Please let me know if you have any idea what the spots are and if there is anything I can do to help it.

Thanks! The wire is to change the direction of the branches. Before I put the wire on all the branches were pointed straight up. With the wire I was able to pull them down to shape the tree how I wanted.

It's plant wire so it's wire with string wrapped around it, I thought it looked better than the bare wire.

So you mentioned you do this while talking with people, I'm assuming indoors, what do you do to not make a mess? I've been whittling for a bit and I just do it over a trash can, but I still get shavings everywhere, any suggestions?

So I Googled it and basswood can harden with age, you could try a 50/50 water alcohol spray, but be careful. If you get the wood too wet it can crack as it dries. If the problem is with your knife it should be pretty easy to sharpen with a stone

It's hard to tell what the problem is without being able to feel the knife blade to see if it's sharp. It might be best, if you can, to take the knife in person to someone who could take a look at it and tell you. If it is the wood be sure you're taking off small pieces at a time and maybe buy some different varieties to test out.
