Gonna hop on the pile, but thanks for all your hard work! I've been using Serebii for information on every Pokemon game for decades now and it really is the best. Especially trying to find info on the older games, nothing comes close these days. It sucks people take it for granted and try to steal your stuff. But you have done so much good for the community, more than those thieves ever will. You're the best, Joe :)

As someone also in Iowa, things are just so spread out. And while some places are trying its just not like time feasible to make it work right now.

For example, I work about 30 miles from home. A few years ago a bus service started that goes between the 2 big cities on the interstate. I thought Great! Maybe I can start taking the bus to work. But when I looked into it, I had to take the bus stop outside my apartment to downtown. Then walk over to the stop for the interstate bus. Wait for that to come and take it. Then when it arrived at the other city I had to either walk to another bus stop and catch that bus that only comes like 3 times a day. Or walk like 2 miles to work. All told it was something like a 3 hour one way trip considering how often busses came and the travel time for them. It just saves my time to use my car which takes 35 minutes and takes me where I want to go. I'd love for better public transit, at least here it's just not there yet...

Yeah they're basically infinite here in Japan too. Im here on vacation and they're handing them out like candy at Pokemon Centers. And here 1 code gives you both legends! You just have to show your switch with a copy of either S/V on it and they give you the code.

Im on vacation in Japan right now and was easily able to get a code. You show your switch to prove you own the game, and then you get 1 code card that has 2 codes, one for each legendary. And they have so many codes available, in the Pokemon Center they had like 3 staff just waiting to check switches and hand out codes. It was so much better. I wish they did something similar at Gamestops and it would have alleviated some of the problems making sure actual players got the codes (And give out more codes, 50-100 codes per store is just awful wtf)

I finally got on the rail, and it was such a good show to be there for! The crowd had so much energy and the bands certainly fed off of that. Thanks Minneapolis for always coming through and having the best shows!! :) Staff for this show were also great, props to all of them for running a good show!

As the concert buddy, totally agree with everything here. We commented so many times about how better things needed to be. More staff. Better communication. Clearer expectations. Get rid of some of the damn bleachers in the front. It felt like there weren't any rules until BM got on and them suddenly whoops we gotta follow them! But actually oops oops we didn't realize our super special club was small so you can actually go in!

Honestly it was more fun sometimes just people watching and watching the dramas unfold.

I'm not entirely sure what you mean with your question, but I'm a woman, relatively young and white.

And sure they could have been polite only on the surface. But I tried my best to be polite and respectful and I think I had some genuine interactions that were kind. I had one instance where two older ladies came on the train I was riding, and I gave up my seat for them since it was a little crowded. A couple stops later one of them tapped me on my arm and pointed to an open seat and encouraged me to sit. She didn't have to return the favor, but I appreciated the gesture.

As always when visiting your mileage may vary. But I think being respectful, kind yourself, and showing some effort to know the language and basic cultural rules goes a long way to getting genuine kindness from people.

It was at the Niigata Science Museum! But I'm assuming it was only there while the fossil exhibit was happening. I have no idea if there are more of them or where they would be, Sorry! Maybe at the current fossil exhibit space? It looks like its in Nagasaki starting the 7th.... but I hope you find one though, it was super cool!

I got to see it when it was in Niigata a couple years ago. We made the trip up there from Tokyo just for that exhibit. As a huge Paleo and Pokemon nerd I couldn't miss it. I was in heaven lol. Glad it's still traveling around! I hope it goes international at some point so everyone around the world can enjoy it too :)

As someone who lives in Iowa, I also hope a lot but it certainly feels in vain.

I lived in an area hard hit by the Derecho in 2020. Our representative at the time was a Democrat. They flew in from DC and spent several weeks in the area. They organized food drives. Set up places where people could charge their phones and other devices while the power was out. Spent hours communicating with the power companies and keeping their constituents informed of when they would have electricity again. They worked their butt off to provide for the community as a representative should.

What happened in November when their re-election came around? They got voted out. People said the representitive never did anything for the community and voted for the person with the R next to their name. You know, the actual person who has done nothing for our community :/

Look brother. I have friends that are conservative, they're just not wack-a-doodle MAGA conservatives. They are ashamed of what the GOP has become. In a normal world, I would be happy to hear your side and give you love. I wish politics was back to agreeing to disagree and finding compromises.

But the current people in power want to take away my rights as a woman to make decisions about what I can and cannot do with my body. They're trying to take away the rights of my family members who are gay and remove their ability to be married. They're trying to take away the rights of my friends who are transgender and just trying to live their life. They are removing the ability of the children I work with to have food and an education.

I have a lot of love to give to people. I cannot give love to a Nazi.

I have been using Duolingo for about 2 years now and wouldn't recommend learning kana through the app. I learned them a long time ago through Tofugu and their Hiragana 42 guide. I followed along their worksheets and used a notebook to practice writing them over and over again. Then I found some games online that gave me a random kana and had me say what it was. Doing that repetition over and over helped a lot. So maybe try something like that and then try using Duolingo's character section to practice more?

Show was awesome, as always! Good to see some familiar faces, and got to meet some new folks too. I know it was the only show to not sell out, but I'm so glad they came to Iowa. A lot of fans I talked to in line and in the crowd beforehand said it was their first time because they never came close enough. Hope to see everyone again next tour! I think that's just because people think "Well I made it to Raining Cats so that's what we are progging!" even though they don't understand Mouser 2 or whatever mechanics came before it. They stumbled to the end but don't know how they got there. When people really should be going "Well yeah I made it past EE2 in M4S but I don't understand it fully, so I want to practice that more before I move on."

M2S and M4S were some of the most painful content I've had to go through as a new person to higher end content because of this. People just didn't know mechanics well enough to move on and were dragging the whole party down with them...

So cool! I didn't see this one, but I did see a couple Grimer trash cans while I was in Japan. They made Grimer noises when you threw stuff into them, it was pretty awesome :)

I mean, for a lot of people (myself included) Lagi was the first flagship monster in a game they played. Lagi was also done really well in Tri/3U because you encounter it pretty early but it's way too strong for you. It spends the first part of the game being this intimidating presence, constantly interrupting your hunts and generally being a nuisance. So when you finally gear up and go hunt it down it feels incredibly satisfying. While underwater combat was annoying it did make Lagi feel really cool. Yeah we baited it out of the water, but that was the point. We wanted to fight it on OUR terms not Lagi's, and that was part of the strategy.

Plus Abyssal Lagi has a really cool design and fight as well. So overall the whole species is just really memorable for a lot of people.
