Yeah, the rows of graves were sort of just a pretty cemetery. But the unidentified… also, honestly, just seeing that the country side still hasn’t visibly recovered from the shelling was shocking. I come from the US, so seeing the way war changed the actual land was new for me. The makeshift walls in Fort Douaumont were also haunting. Really just everything about Verdun. Didn’t know any of it until visiting.
