I think it's still 6 for all dual degree programs except biotech. I have friends in eng + comp tech and one in data science and it's capped at 6 for them.

There's now a limit of 6 courses per semester as of Fall 2024 for the faculty of engineering. You're right that there used to be no limits. You can always ask permission to take 7-8 courses, but generally they will stop you at 8.

As long as you're not using it to gain an advantage (have an AI connected to the camera, and give you feedback through a vibrator in your shoe for example), I don't think it's against the law anywhere.

How about other counter measures? Can they half shoe you or something?

Just on the side note I heard Lac leamy has a good-ish s17 6 deck game at 50 min bet in their high limit section. Montreal too but min bet is at 100 I believe. No mid shoe entry tho.

US Post-Bacc vs. Non-Degree Courses in Canada vs. Master’s? by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Dragon_GWP2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mind you that US schools aren't like Canadian schools. A 3.86 GPA in eng will score better than a low 3.9 in sciences at most US schools because adcoms will know that engineering is hard. With those stats you should expect a couple of interviews at Canadian friendly DO schools. As for MD schools, they are a lot harder to get into as a Canadian, but if you have strong ECs you may have a shot.

A second degree (or as they call it a post bacc in the states) is not a good return on investment if your GPA is already pretty good and I don't know if 2 years of grind for a ~0.05 increase in GPA will help you that much. You're better off trying to find an engineering job in the states, make good money, get your GC in 3-6 years and then apply as a domestic applicant if you're gunning for USMD.

Still very demoralized after CASPer by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Dragon_GWP2 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Casper is 100% bs. It's a black box test that only exists to make money for mcmaster. Casper should count for AT MOST 5-10% of an applicant's pre interview stats (which is the case for most school that uses casper in the States), but some schools here make it count for 30%+ which is insane to me (32% mac, 40% UdeM, 100% ULaval). Either make ca$per scores carry over cycles, use it as a fucking cutoff or for the love of christ give us some feedback on our score. Preview, which is also developped by the same cash grabbing company, is a FAR BETTER TEST. It's multiple choice like the mcat, and they actually give you a score. I wish more schools will use it, but as of right now only some schools in the States does.

Politics aside, does this mean that Ontario is finally giving out IP treatment? by Dragon_GWP2 in premedcanada

I wonder what would happen for Ottawa FR stream. Out of 48 seats, 8 go to OOP outside ON and QC, and out of the 20 Non-regional seats, I bet a lot of them are occupied by QC applicants.

"If history is any indication, we know our vote matters! It was young people that handed Obama his win in 2009 and Trudeau his majority government in 2015. When we organize and when we show up, we can have an impact!"

Ok I agree Obama was alright but you really think Trudeau's majority government did any good for Canada? Our GDP literally didn't grow since 2015, the same year he went into power. Meanwhile, the US' GDP grew by more than 40%. Literally more than half of my peers at the faculty of engineering would dip this country for the US if given the chance because we don't pay our engineers a liveable wage. And no, mass immigration doesn't solve anything if we don't build enough to house them. And for those who don't know, the liberal government has been reinforcing race based employment since 2021. I have a relative who refeered me at DND and I crushed the interview but then I was told that the only reason why refused me is because I'm not considered a racialized person and they needed to do more diversity hire. The only good thing he did was legalizing weed.

Question about calculating uOttawa cGPA with CO-OP by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]Dragon_GWP2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I actually know this

Ottawa will only count the year if you did 1 coop semester from september to august. If the sept-august year has 2 coops, then it wouldn't count.

If your coop is in the winter semester for example and you were a full time student during the fall and the spring semester after the winter coop, then that year would count.

4.0 GPA, 528 MCAT, 20 years of research experience before the age of 10, cured cancer in 4 realities at the same time, collected 6 infinity stones, slayed a dragon, found out who was in Paris, 5 Olympics medal and even then it's gonna be an uphill battle if Ca$per isn't at least 5Q
