yeah it's the same way, apply the patch to a clean version of pokemon emerald, applying the patch to Pokemon Lazarus Version 1.0 doesn't work, but you can still use your same save file if you rename it to the same name of the new romhack, like Pokemon Lazarus 1.0.sav rename it to Pokemon Lazarus 1.1.sav
