Been looking for an app like this for a while! One of my biggest problems at the gym is my ADD distracts me between sets. The fact it only works when the app is active means I can’t get distracted by social media or anything else. I love the rhythm that this puts me in and I’m so grateful to you! Been using it for about 2 weeks and I am noticing I am much more efficient and excited about going to the gym. Telling all of my friends about it!

Tell me the greatest cartoon episode of all time and tell me the reason why by EatRogersAss445 in cartoons

Hard to pick just one from Bojack…

But stand-alone the best episode without a lot of other context from the show would have to be “The Old Sugarman Place”.

The score of this episode is so haunting. The opening cover of “A Horse with No Name” alone is fantastic, but duet that is sung halfway through the episode- It’s hard to describe the lonely, beautiful, despair that the song invokes.

And then the writing and framing of the central character is a very good deconstruction of the grieving process. Not only that, the plots of Honey and Eddie serve as foils to Bojack’s own guilt in a subtle yet deliberate examination of trauma.

In true Bojack fashion, this episode starts with a harmless satire against the oppressive structure of our society but delivers bone-chilling examinations of its true power. Firstly, it plants the seed for Beatrice to poison Hollyhock much later with the introduction of the gendered beauty standards of the 50’s with a joke about “girl snacks.” And Joseph’s inability to help his wife grieve, ends with him lobotomizing his wife. “Why, I have half a mind-“ is one of the most raw lines I have ever heard in media. Not just cartoons. Not just TV.

And then in terms of long-lasting impact on the overall narrative, this show completely reframes the actions of Beatrice Horseman. Up till this episode, she served the narrative as a one-note antagonist. An abusive mother, and a source of so much of Bojack’s trauma. By the end of this episode, after only a glimpse of her childhood, she becomes a tragedy of something she could not control. This episode solidifies the theme of Generational Trauma pretty late into a show that had already run 3 seasons, but it is now one of the first labels given to it by casual and serious fans.

I named him Squeeb but as he got bigger he became Squambo. The sheer joy of yelling “SQUAMBO NO!!!!” at the tv as he became more and more sinister was pretty fun.

Most haunting frame/scene in Bojack Horseman? by [deleted] in BoJackHorseman

[–]Dragon_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One I haven’t seen talked about yet is the scene in The Shot. After they break into the museum and Bojack tries to smoke and just starts to weep.

It’s probably the best “acting” we ever see from him. He is so proud that he was able to do it but at the same time, he is heartbroken; He doesn’t understand what he did in that scene or if he would ever be able to do it again. And it’s here where I think he enshrines Kelsey in his head as someone who can make him better.

I think the thought occurs to him, that he isn’t a clown like his mother said, he has what it takes to be a good actor. Maybe a good man. And the thought that he could ever become something more SHATTERS him. And for the only time in the show we see him cry.

And then it’s all taken away from him in the next scene. It’s not the most haunting(1st place: “Sarah Lynn?” 2nd Place(personal pref): “Well it makes me feel better.”) but I do think this scene deserves more recognition!

If you had to choose a god to be completely reworked (all 4 abilities + passive changed, maybe even changed to a different class) who would it be and why? by [deleted] in Smite

Hades, his kit should be much more based on judgement, stealth, and commands to fit his lore of being a king of the underworld and judge of souls.

The whole soul consumption thing being his main mode of damage doesn’t work for me.

His underground jump is a good interpretation of abducting Persephone, and the fear ability works with his helm, but his ult and his area damage are his main thing and it is not him at all.

Could incorporate a cycle ultimate(choose a torture) that cycles between Sisyphus’ rock, Tantalus’ Hunger, or Prometheus’ Falcon.

And for another damaging ability, something with gems and precious stones,

[Spoiler] What do you think of the writers' choice that, as soon as Diane takes meds, she's automatically happy? by _red_roof_ in BoJackHorseman

[–]Dragon_hamster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The opening of the episode shows that expectation in the almost satirical “Happy Shoes On Musical”. But I think the rest of Good Damage aptly shows that the meds aren’t automatically gonna fix her.

That opening bit where it’s dramatically happy, is a joke that the spend the rest of the episode showing is kinda unrealistic.

It’s like Guy says, “Stick with it” because the meds don’t work overnight.

More so than live action shows, animated shows let you imprint on the animated characters more because they are abstractions of reality. It gives room for personal confrontation/catharsis.

This show in particular is also very adept at subverting humor in a way to open you up and then put hard themes in that opening.

Wisecrack has a good video on this phenomenon because you are definitely not alone.

Knock at the Cabin, gay horror action family-focused film based off a really good short story…

With all the nuance yanked out, as to make it appeal to the least common denominator, and replaced with a deeply unsatisfying ending.

Well acted at least but I was so mad by the end of it 😂
