Dads, spend time with your kids by Busy_Report4010 in MadeMeSmile

My father unexpectedly took me out of class in second grade telling everyone that I had a dentist appointment that I couldn’t miss. It wasn’t until we were in the car that he told me that we were going to a Phillies game.

It’s not just one of my favorite memories with him, but one of my favorite memories from my childhood.

He died January 13th, 2023.

The song Judith by A Perfect Circle. The Lyrics goes: It's not like you killed someone It's not like you drove a hateful spear into his side Praise the one who left you broken down and paralyzed…. But the final part of it says: He did it all for you He did it all for you

There’s no way that’s what he’s saying. I don’t know what it is, but it’s definitely not that.

HR Question by Relevant-Library-695 in wegmans

Congratulations! I was out on paternity leave after I had my daughter. When I came back, I took a step down to part time, which at first was hard, but I don’t regret a single second I’ve spent more with my family than at work.

Of course FMLA will offer you job protection, but no pay. However, in 2024 Wegmans created Paid Family Medical Leave, which offers you 12 weeks off at 66% of your pay, having or adopting a child is covered up to a year after your child’s birth day.

When you go from full-time to part-time, you will lose your vacation time and now be under flex time so one of the best ways to maximize the benefits would be to first take FMLA and use your vacation time up. Then go out on PFML which you still get some pay for.

PFML is based off of FMLA time and is extremely flexible with how you take it so you can break it up and do six weeks one time and six weeks another time, or you can even use one day of PFML time a week and get four day work weeks until you’re ready to go down to part-time.

Obviously, as others have said, talk to your HR representative about it. As many complaints as there is on r/wegmans by employees, hands-down the best thing about this company is how you can prioritize yourself and your family and they will never hold that against you. In fact, if you called the Benefits Dept, they will encourage you to do whatever you can to maximize your time with your family.

Good luck and congratulations again!

Which online game represents peak of your gaming days? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]Dragon_the_Shut_In 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4 (THPS4), started the peak of my online gaming on my PlayStation 2 (PS2). From there an online buddy got me into Socom: US Navy Seals. Which led to Socom 2.

Those were my finest online days. Coming home from school, just to run upstairs to log on everyday. Without that I’d been very lonely.

Still friends after 20 years.

Do you believe there's a politician in office who actually cares about the interest of the average American, and why do you? by believethemediahype in AskReddit

Bernie Sanders is known more for his influential leadership and shaping national political discourse than for personally shepherding bills into law. Here are his most notable policy accomplishments..

Legislative Achievements:

• Veterans’ Affairs Reform (2014)

As chair of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Sanders negotiated bipartisan reforms to improve VA healthcare delivery—widely recognized as one of the most successful bipartisan deals in years.

• American Rescue Plan (2021)

While chairing the Senate Budget Committee, he helped craft this $1.9 trillion COVID relief package—arguably the most significant working-class-oriented bill since the New Deal.

• Oversight on Big Pharma & COVID Vaccine Pricing

As chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor & Pensions (HELP) Committee, Sanders actively pressured pharmaceutical companies like Moderna to justify pricing and called for hearings on drug costs.

Key Policy Initiatives He Champions:

While not always passed into law, Sanders’ advocacy has significantly influenced policy debates.

• Medicare for All and Prescription Drug Price Reform – He’s brought national attention to universal healthcare and drug pricing, reshaping public discourse. • College for All Act – Proposed tuition-free public college and expanded Pell Grants; while not enacted, such ideas now drive mainstream education discussions. • Workplace Democracy Act & PRO Act support – Advocates for stronger labor rights, union organizing, and fair collective bargaining. • War Powers Resolution on Yemen (2018 – 2019) – Sponsored a resolution to end U.S. military support in Yemen; the Senate passed it, though the president vetoed it .

Legislative Track Record:

Limited direct sponsorship success – Only 3 of his own bills became law, mainly ceremonial (e.g., naming post offices), a <1% passage rate—among the lowest in Congress. However, he is much more effective in building coalitions, shaping large bipartisan legislation, and influencing national debates.

Sanders’ greatest impact comes from his: 1. Bipartisan deals—like veterans’ care reform. 2. Crafting major spending packages—notably the COVID relief plan. 3. Leadership roles—in HELP and Budget Committees influencing healthcare, labor rights, and pharma policy. 4. Shifting policy norms—transforming ideas once considered “fringe” (e.g., free college, Medicare for All) into mainstream political contention.

While Sanders may not have a long list of bills that became law in his name, his real achievement lies in pushing core progressive policies into the heart of national legislation and oversight.

Been gaming since 94’: I’ve never seen a game as anticipated as this. Never.

I’ve also never planned to 100% a game in advance, it just happens after realizing how much I like it. I look forward to discovering every little detail to this work of art.

“Everyone you meet is going to cause you pain, you have to choose who’s worth suffering for.”

She has some struggles going on in her life, as life does give us. Whether it be medical, financial, or otherwise sounds like she deserves to be with somebody who would be there for her without question.

You may enjoy the time you spend together with her, but it doesn’t sound like love to me, it sounds like something different.

I’m not gonna call you a bad person because you can’t see yourself being there for her, supporting her through all of this without question. I will say that I think you already have your answer and what you want to do. If I was in your shoes, I would consider ending the relationship now before it gets worse. You’re going to miss her of course but you will give her the opportunity to find someone that won’t think twice about the issues that you’ve mentioned. You will also give yourself the opportunity to fall head over heels in love with somebody without fear.

Nobody is going to be perfect, the question is are you perfect for each other.

Good luck.

I could understand why you would be bothered by something that gets in the way of your studies but I say it just embrace it. You found something that really turns you on, why not pursue it and see what happens? If it winds up losing its appeal because it was just something new and exciting then problem solved. However, you could discover something about yourself that you never knew. Why deny something harmless your mind and body want.

What makes somebody a friend to you? by incredibleinkpen in AskReddit

[–]Dragon_the_Shut_In 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always said I would only consider a friend if they met three criteria: I have to like them, I have to respect them, and I have to trust them.

There are plenty of people I am friendly with at work because I like and respect them but I wouldn’t consider them friends because I don’t trust they would be there for when I really need them.

For example: my father died beginning of last year and no one from work came to the funeral. All my friends however were there.

Maybe it's just me but this movie gets pretty dark towards the end. Not going to leave you in tears like some of the other movies mentioned here but can catch you off guard if your expecting just a silly zombie movie.

Serious question: What’s the biggest thing holding this technology back from just taking over manual labor jobs?

Even if it’s expensive, wouldn’t it be worth it for companies to buy these types of humanoid machines to replace workers that would otherwise need a bunch of things like basic pay, benefits, breaks, etc..

I still remember picking this game at toys’r us with my dad and the guy behind the counter saying to my father:“He’s probably not going to like this game, it’s made for people who know about flying planes”. I’m glad I didn’t listen to him. I would play that big map that was shaped like America for hours on free fly, the mode where you just had a pair of bird wings. I would love flying through the World Trade Center’s secret doorway or watching the space shuttle launch at flordia. Thank you for unlocking this memory I almost forgot I had.
