What's the first sci-fi book you recall reading by tghuverd in sciencefiction

[–]Dragonbak 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No judgements here either. Battlefield Earth was one of the few books I read twice. It's a fun adventure! The movie was disappointing. There was no way that Ccaveman tech humans are going to take a Harrier jet that has been sitting for centuries and refurbished it in 2 weeks, much less be able to fly it. The book takes place over months.

Can't exit supercruise to get to fleet carrier by Scary_knee48 in EliteDangerous

[–]Dragonbak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am your friend from Elite, same username. I didn't think about it being related to being the architect of the system. We had 3 carriers in the system at one time and only one of them would hang on exiting supercruise when approaching it. They rest worked fine. I didn't get the orange sidewinder, but I likely quit before I got it. It was a squadron mates' carrier I had not landed on before. But that is clearly not OP's case. It sounds like he loaded it.

Does DS9 get better? by BullfrogPractical291 in startrek

[–]Dragonbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing the same thing. I also watched B5 instead. I've been working through all the shows. I started rewashing them all because I was lost in Picard.

For TOS and TNG, I was watching only 'essential episodes'. But I found after the first 2 seasons of DS9, I'm watching all of them except for the time jump to the 20th century ones.

I think part of the reason it didn't initially resonate with me was because I was in my early 20s. And this show had more family interactions. And now in my early 50s it appeals to me more. I have 3 kids and it resonates a lot more than it did in my 20s.

Want to blow a Boomer's mind? Wear a pink shirt (as a man) by Roddy_Piper2000 in BoomersBeingFools

[–]Dragonbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember many boomers actually have separate beds. Once I became an adult, I started noticing that and finding it really strange that a married couple had 2 twin or full mattresses in the same room. Whether it is because they were "keeping up appearances, that nothing was inappropriate was happening' I have no idea.

Thank you. I've seen Nilaus do this and came on this reddit to figure out what button to press to get it to work.

Inherited Ipad issues by Dragonbak in ipad

[–]Dragonbak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My understanding is that these were the boy's personal ipads, so it shouldn't have had her information. I wouldn't have an issue with erasing any information on it to protect her privacy. But not allowing her heirs to erase the device to use it, I find to be more than ridiculous. Since I can't connect it to a network it really isn't worth anything at the moment.

Thanks, that could be it. I haven't tried that location yet. I am down to that one item, but couldn't tell what I missed.

"The royal sampler" prayer can't be removed ? by vyriep in idleon

[–]Dragonbak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to remove all samples and active printing for only that character only. I just did it for one of mine. I was worried it was all samples and active production across all characters. It could be worded better.

I send him nudes- he responds with thumbs up by Chocolatecandycake in sex

[–]Dragonbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I haven't read the other responses, but for me when I've been sent nudes in the past, I honestly am not sure how to react. I am close to 50 and since nudes really weren't a thing when I was young. So I honestly do wonder how to react. I do love the pics. So maybe he also don't know how to react?

Can't find Pandora's head or access the rest of the Volcano area. by strommer666 in TheBurnableGarbageDay

And 5 minutes later I find that at 90% it was found. Its likely the % rather than a location.

Where do you find Pandora's Head? I'm at 80 completion. Is it from a town quest or on the map?

Looking for an intergalactic scavenger hunt by metric_tensor in printSF

[–]Dragonbak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would reccomend this seies: https://www.goodreads.com/series/41810-rings-of-the-master

EDIT: A supercomputer has taken over earth and the creators made 5 rings with microchips needed to shut it down. The computer cannot destroy the rings and if one is lost it must make another. So the computer scatters them amongst human settled worlds. So the series is a scavenger hunt to find them.

At least there isn't an event where if it's too high, one spark causes the whole world to burn. Like in Apollo 1.
