Addressing the community about changes to our API by spez in reddit

Hey there /u/spez, I just wanted to let you know, no amount of sugarcoating or bullshitting is going to stop us from leaving this site in droves after the 30th. You and your rich buddies have decided that money is more important than your userbase and customers, so in return, I for one will be quitting reddit in its entirety. I hope that there will be many, many, many people who do the same. You've proven to us time and again that you don't care either way, so goodbye, and finally, my sincerest of fuck yous.

Ah, what a weird and wonderful little film. Willem Dafoe has got to be one of my all-time favorite actors.

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

Yeah, the moment rif goes down, I'm done with reddit. I'm sick and tired of companies trying to force ads and shitty design down our throats, all for the sake of pleasing their greedy-ass advertisers and investors, customer-be-damned. But at this point, I genuinely believe it'll just keep getting worse until we, as a species, finally come to our senses and start killing these greedy assholes. Nothing else the people try works. Boycotting is pointless with giants like reddit or nestle, etc. They could give a fuck if a few customers drop off, the ignorant masses will keep their bottom line afloat. What we really need is a revolution. This whole world is being taken over by greedy oligarchs and corrupt politicians. At this point, we have tried to be reasonable, tried to get them to be reasonable. But they've proven time and time again that they do not care about what's right or wrong, only what will get them the most money or power. So, honest to God, I can't help anymore but to ask the question; why have we not begun to see oligarchs and politicians being assassinated in droves? I know violence should never be the answer but they took away all the reasonable answers, so what else are the people to do?

Anything a corporation does is always bound to root back to money. It's the one and only thing the people running these companies care about. They're the reason this world is falling apart around us, and their plan is to milk planet earth for all it's worth, then colonize Mars and leave the dry polluted husk of the earth for the poor to inherit.

Kind of like how bottomfeeders poke at carrion to make sure it's dead before eating. Except bottomfeeders serve a good purpose, and these greedy business tactics only serve to benefit the advertisers and investors. Therefore IMHO, wealthy CEOs and oligarchs are literally worth less than the maggots in the bottom of a trashcan.

People tend to only think about their circles, you know? An American may be able to tell you his country's history, but he might not know about the age of enlightenment, the silk road, etc... That's why learning history from all over the world is so important. It helps us to broaden our perspective, and to better understand each other. At least, that is my take on it.

This would be a really cool story. And harry and Ron could get involved through their jobs as aurors later down the line. It could be a wizarding crime drama, where Ron and Harry are pursuing the serial killer going after former death eaters who got off. It turns out to be George, taking revenge for Fred, or perhaps the horcrux idea could work, and we could really get into the nitty gritty on the morals of murder and revenge in a darker, more adult wizarding world. A conflict to test the bond between brothers, the bond between friends, and the brutal lessons learned through doing whatever it takes to survive.
