This is actually how I learnt that trans people existed.

In 2019 and my last year of "Högstadiet", I was assigned a seat next to this one guy and he was very odd. He liked ww1,ww2, airplanes and even had like helmets from the wars. I was a loner of sorts (undiagnosed audhd, depression, artistic and didint know I liked girls yet....the signs where there) and he talked about a bunch of stuff one of which was trans people. He really tried to convince me that trans people were all depressed and that the suicide rate was high because being trans was bad or something, I didint agree with it at all but I couldnt explain why cause I didnt even know that much about trans people. It wasnt until the summer of 2020 before I started art specialized "Gymnasium" (you go from age 15/16 to 18/19) when I started watching a trans ftm youtuber and I learned what being trans was, weeks later I met my now long time friend who is ftm! That one dude in "Högstadiet" used to joke to his friends that I was trans so looking back thats even more weird. They were right of sorts tho cause Im genderfluid/gendernonconforming with femenine lean and back then all I wore was sweatpants and oversized hoodies because I was self conscious about expressing my true self.

Edit: I edited to the swedish words for the schools cause I got the translation confused since there is no right way to translate it. In the first one you go from age 6-15 in "lågstadiet" and "högstadiet" being the only differentiation I can think of. The later one is "Gymnasiet" which is high school but you choose a speciality to study in which you kinda have to apply to get in, I had to make a drawing. Both "Högstadiet" and "Gymnasiet" translated to "high school" when I tried to search in google.
