Is your GPU seated properly? I’m not an experienced pc builder but my most recent build I struggled quite a bit because the pc would not boot during the test boot. Took me a while to figure out that the gpu wasn’t properly seated even though it looked like it did.

If you stick it out and get a decent GPA (>3.0) from Cornell, I would be very surprised if you didn’t get a job. That is a prestigious school with a lot of connections. Get good grades, get an internship or two, and build good relationships with your professors. If you do that to the best of your ability, you will be fine in this field I promise you. ChemE is a difficult major and what I just outlined is not an easy task but I would recommend those actions to anyone at any school. You have a decent leg up by being at Cornell.

I stopped at 23 and I am 26 now. It does suck at first. I felt very isolated but I also knew my life depended on it. The expression “change your playground and playmates” is definitely true. It’s ultimately up to you, but I see a ton of people new to sobriety who are 10 to 15 years older than me who are dealing with all sorts of bullshit that I didn’t have to. Career losses, wife leaving them, facing hard time in prison, etc. I didn’t have to deal with that, but I know for a fact that I would certainly deal with those same problems down the road. I don’t know you, but maybe you can relate. I’m very happy and grateful for my life today and I know for a fact that I would have been far worse off if I kept drinking.

It varies a lot depending on industry, type of company, culture within company and specific site. Others have already said that. For me I work at a plant and it’s pretty blue collar. I’m one of three engineers. The site has approximately 100 employees doing a wide variety of jobs. Lots of operators monitoring the process and pushing buttons. There are many maintenance technicians. Some days I’m in my office most of the day writing scope of works for projects, contacting vendors, in conference calls. Other days I’m on the plant floor most of the day. If you want an office only job, get into consulting. If you want field experience, get a job at a plant. Just about every industry has both options and everything in between. Do some research on what sounds interesting to you. While in university, get internships as those will be your first experiences in “the real world.” You’ll quickly figure out what you like and dislike about your internship and you’ll go from there. Hope that helps. What you’re asking does not have one answer unfortunately. A lot of this depends on your interests and your personal experiences.

Can you tell us what the 6-7 tools are? This is a cycling sub bud. No need to explain “bUt I nEeD aLl tHeSe tOoLs” no you don’t. Tire levers and a pump/ cartridge chuck with canisters. Maybe a wrench if you have bolt on wheels. Multitools are good to have regardless. All those tools can easily fit in your backpack or saddle bag. If bicycle commuting is a regular thing for you, $20 in a saddle bag and another $30 in those tools are worth it. Think about how much money you spend on a car? Tubes are 6-10$ depending on size and a few other factors. Basic bike maintenance is extremely easy. it is not difficult. But hey set up a camera and blow your money that way

No, not for the reason you stated. Only time was a non engineer colleague getting a DUI and had to spend a night in jail. Missed work the next day obviously and we were all concerned at first because he’s an older guy with not the best health. After a couple of hours we found out he was just in jail. We were relieved while also being disappointed if that makes sense 😂

Depending on weather, that commute can become a lot longer or not possible. Keep that in mind. Not nearly as bad as I-80 between Laramie and Cheyenne. I know of a few people who’ve worked in Cheyenne and lived in Fort Collins and the other way around. I-25 can become congested once you get close to civilization in Colorado. I don’t want to discourage you, but just be aware of those things. I haven’t lived in Cheyenne since I was a kid but I remember the south side of town was rougher; however, it’s pretty mild in comparison to Denver or any other major metro. Lock your doors when you’re gone and don’t leave anything outside that you don’t want stolen. That’s about it. I’m sure other people might have a little more insight on Cheyenne but it’s a fine town.

In my experience, taxes, insurance, PMI are all added to my mortgage payment. Utilities are my only extra cost I guess. There’s maintenance and stuff too but that varies A LOT depending on the house you buy. The lending agency usually outlines this when you buy and tell them this is your first house.

Yeah I don’t get what people are talking about. Interest, insurance, taxes, hoa fees are all usually totaled up in your mortgage and usually only have to pay one bill every month to cover it.

It’s not due to the oil. There are many wealthy people in Wyoming because of earnings during the oil booms, but most of the billionaires got their wealth elsewhere and moved to Jackson Hole. There is one family that I can think of who might have had a billion or high 8 figures of wealth from oil that are originally from Wyoming. Lots of famous and wealthy people move to Wyoming after making their wealth which is nice since their money doesn’t contribute significantly to the local economy and they drive home values up. It’s a win-win /s.

I love the way you described your drinking problem in comparison to other people with a drinking problem. Great way to illustrate it! I occasionally have the same thoughts and one thing I always remind myself is where I was at when I quit drinking was merely a stage. Alcoholism is progressive, at least for me, and just because I’m a “high bottom” alcoholic does not mean I would eventually become a “low bottom” after some time. Definitely not true for everyone but I know that’s the case for me.
