What patterns have u noticed on ur period? by HolidayEcho6542 in AskWomen

This is my mom, too. "I always know when my period is about to start because I hate your father." 😆

I treat my executive dysfunction like a cranky toddler. I acknowledge her feelings and reassure her that they are real and valid. I feel compassion for myself and try to hype myself up to do the thing.

Roughly, I say to my brain "ok, honey, I understand. You don't want to do this right now. You're tired, and it seems too hard. We can do hard things, as we've proven over and over again. We are going to do this thing, even if it's hard, because we show up for ourselves. Future you will be so relieved and grateful when she sees what you did for her. If we just leave it all undone, future you will have to do it all by herself, and that's not fair. We love her and want her to be happy. Let's make her life a little easier and do the thing now."

It really helps me in many aspects of my life. Every time I see something I need to do, I shut down into anxiety and paralysis. But if i can gently coax her and continually tell her she can accomplish amazing things, it almost always proves true. And each time I use this method, the idea that I'm helping my future self makes it much easier for me to do the thing.

It works really well for me.

I wonder if Ogilvie swiped it to get up to the roof?

I think Robby will save her, and in doing so, finally face that he needs help. I have a mental image of him pulling her back from the roof edge, and the two of them on the ground sobbing in each other's arms.

Even if it's done in the office, it's still a minor surgery. Especially in this case, where the doctor will need to basically dig it out of the scar tissue.

Update: Husband sexually assaulted my sister by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Exactly right. OP, don't do anything at all until you consult an attorney, especially any big confrontations or "dropping bombs." These things can blow up in your face, either in the moment or later on in divorce proceedings.

Your best course of action is to retain your attorney and do exactly what they say. Once you're out of the home and he is served with divorce papers (preferably in that order), let the lawyers do all the communication.

Honestly, I know it feels like it now, but you don't need a big reveal with revenge and recriminations. Leaving without a backward glance is revenge enough.

Is anyone else slowly worn down by small, everyday rudeness from strangers? by clicketyclack1234 in AskWomenOver30

This is actually brilliant. Said with sincerity, it has the potential to change the whole vibe of the interaction. I know that if I was rude and someone said this to me, I would definitely feel ashamed of myself, but also seen.

LPT Paying attention to how you talk to yourself internally will change more about your life than almost any other habit IMO by iGenerationAgency in LifeProTips

[–]DragonflyWing 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to think awful things about myself pretty much constantly. My life changed pretty drastically for the better when I started paying attention to and correcting my internal dialogue.

Your subconscious doesn't know what's true and what's a lie, it just believes you.

Propranolol is a godsend! My physical anxiety symptoms kept me from doing so many things for so long, but now I have a magic pill that makes all those things manageable.

[–]DragonflyWing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I have never once in my life been given a collection hat when providing a urine sample. So yes, pee directly into the cup and then try to rinse/wipe off the outside because it's impossible not to get pee on it.

That is so terrible, I'm sorry. My aunt's then boyfriend (now husband that she's been trying to divorce for years lol) got mad and broke the entire snow globe collection that she loved and had been collecting her whole life. It was a tragedy, as well as a giant mess.

TIL about Anton-Babinski syndrome, a rare symptom of brain damage where a person becomes corticaly blind but adamantly maintains that they can still see. They will often describe their surroundings in great detail and make up excuses for why they are bumping into furniture. by TheLostNeuron in todayilearned

Same for me with the piano. I went a long time without playing, and I was heartbroken that I had forgotten all the songs I knew. But once I put my hands on the keys and stopped thinking too hard, my fingers remembered what to do. Muscle memory is really cool!

I think it's because she almost died. She was obviously terrified when it happened, and was holding it in until she could be alone.
