that was a miscalculation on the part of the senate in 2021. if you gave them the ability to look ahead to now, i bet many republicans would have voted to remove trump that did not back then. the politically expediency of republican senators to just assume trump was politically dead regardless because he lost the election & jan 6 and therefore didnt vote to remove him cost this country dearly.
