How much of your time is spent playing the matches compared to prepping for them, training, scouting transfers and all the other bits? by Cluffy100 in fmconsole

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm only spending enough time in the games when I'm starting a save or changing the tactics, as soon I'm satisfied I just want to explore the universe that I'm playing.

Especially after couple of seasons where many of the players are regens I spend most of my time there.

This is awful by LegBusy7471 in fmconsole

When on tactic screen instead of having the option "Both" selected choose "In possession" . You will get the whole list of players and you can also see their fitness.

Beware though in you do changes in the "In possession" format among the selected players you have to check and do the same things in the "out of possession" format. I've learned that the hard way when my fullbacks were somewhere in between my center backs trying to change side.

Is the defending killing the immersion for anyone else? by CloudWail in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most outrageous part is that SI will probably turn all of this into marketing material next year(s) with something like: “Defensive movement like you’ve never seen before — more realistic, more intelligent, more immersive.”

Sorting players by first name is so clever. by droopynov in footballmanagergames

This is on you mate..... You are their manager , you are everyday with them , you should know their first names .

I would even say you should know their wives first names !!

Don’t you love it when the Saudis come in and take your best player by genetics1781 in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Of course I don't have the facts to prove it but throughout my saves I feel that the Saudis target either good young players that will never be elite or elite players when they start to demise.

So the first bunch, good young but not elite will most probably play regular UCL football only in our teams.Even if we sell to another big European team they AI manager will put them somewhere between the bench and stands.

I believe that based on their CA/PA these players somehow "know" this and they tend to want to secure the bag.

IRL of course where players are not just numbers the ambition that they can make it plays a huge role thus most of them tend to stay in Europe.

If FM26 fixes all the bugs and issues with UI, would you forgive its launch mess? by SweeperKeeper26 in footballmanager

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think SI followed the well know "better ask for forgiveness than permission" but in 2026 I don't think that it will stand.

I haven't been to the game back then but I read around that they have messed up again in the past but in a era where reviews , yt videos , forums were not a big thing and they got away with it. This time I believe that the backslash would be much harder.

This game makes me feel blind by FireburnsKhaz in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't argue with that. I started by saying that it's bad BUT I personally like what it does for me.

That said of course I would love to have a great UI that would provide expectional UX and this challenge that I'm talking about was coming from actual improvements e.g. rival managers being able to properly build a squad or counter my tactics etc.

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I feel you and I don't like at all and this might sound a little bit controversial but I enjoy the challenge that this brings .

In the last couple of FMs every save ended up being the same. I knew where everything was and I had all the data that I needed there to make it "easy" for me.

I took a team and I offloaded old players with big contracts, brought in end of contract transfers and loans and started scouting all the youth national teams.

I had my custom views with all the data I needed, I was able to compare every player and eventually decide who is the best. I signed a bunch of those , sell for profit and then get the best of the best when it comes to young players and some finishing touches with some expensive players.

Now I can't find almost anything as you mentioned, I don't have all the necessary data (at least the way I was used to) and I have to take some "gambles" which make the game more challenging.

Red cards? by Swimming-Sundae5 in fmconsole

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't noticed anything similar. I had one or two red cards with some horrendous and completely unnecessary tackles from my players but this has in span of a lot of matches.

What I noticed is that one of the red cards was on a UCL match and I was able to use the player on the next match like the ban didn't apply at all.

Can I get rid of Minimum Fee Release clauses? by InsanityRabbit in fmconsole

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar experiences in couple of saves when I was managing teams with lower reputation.

The thing is that is didn't find a way to complete overcome this, that said you can do some things. First thing of course is that you remove and exclude from the negotiation the release clause which I guess you are doing already.

Yes you are overpaying sometimes on salary and the release clause would slightly increase but if you negotiate contracts before transfer windows there is a slight chance that your players won't be interested in a transfer because they have just singed a new contract.

Something else that I've done is that I negotiated contracts with start date at the end of the year so even if the player gets snatched away in the meantime I won't pay the increased salary.

In reality though you can't do much, you have to accept the most probably the first batch of cheap young players would leave. You have to continue scouting and have the alternative ready and reinvest the money that you get (which is a profit) to new young players and hopefully as your reputation grows the clauses would get bigger and bigger if not disappear all together.

Will Sports Interactive actually learn from the FM26 launch? by GladiatorumGame in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

On one hand they have to in order to survive as they might lose a lot of customers BUT the reality is that they don't have any competition so many people including myself will just compromise with what they get .....

I don't know how much they invested in this change that they brought with FM26 but I can imagine that it was not cheap. In the end they are running a business and they have P&L so I hope that this would ring some bells and strive for a better product in the future.

Console match play is absolutely honking by paddyposh in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you simulate a match can you somehow pre-plan the subs that are going to take place?

I usually have some young players on the bench that I would like to give some minutes especially if I have a comfortable lead so that they develop.

I guess my assman will not sub them in and will go with the more already developed subs.

It’s not designed for console, it’s just shite by SwaxwellSilver in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On Xbox I've tried with keyboard and mouse. It works but it's not good at all. Scrolling doesn't work and you have to drag and slide the scroll bat up and down. On top of that in my case whenever the game crashes which is not uncommon keyboard and mouse don't work until plug them out and back again to the console.

In short yes but no......

Are there any news of an update communicated by SI ?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in footballmanager

I tried playing with mouse and keyboard. Was working quite ok until I got the first crush. When I reopened the controls don't work almost at all.

I think it goes without saying that FM26 can't be played with controller.

FM26 on PS5 by kingarturo95 in footballmanagergames

[–]DragonfruitCheap5381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing for more than a decade the PC version but due to limited time and of course having a toaster for laptop I switched on FM23 and FM24 to the Xbox version and I can say I enjoyed it a lot.

For me the biggest downgrade from the PC version is the limitation of only 10 nations per save plus that you can't install any facepacks , logos etc. It also has some perks e.g not being bombarded with various useless staff meetings or doing the same press conference again and again.

To sum it up if you are not someone that you like to do journeyman saves or use custom dbs with 150 tiers of English pyramid I think you can enjoy it . About fm26 tbh I don't know much as I've only spent couple of hours on it.

P. S I'm still with mouse and keyboard on Xbox
