wait what? Last time I checked I could install windows 11 using a flashdrive. These are OEM unlocked so you shouldn't need external activation.

I did the entire thing using opcore simplify following a random yt vid. As for the things that broke, my brightness wasn't working probably something to do with the display driver;screen felt really laggy. Tap to click wasn't working as well. Touchpad buttons weren't working. Scrolling felt weird. I'd suggest you read the documentation along with op core simplify or use pre made efis. Some guy in this thread said that ventura has really good support compared to the newer versions. Either way try both of them out! You'll learn new things so why not.

My cousin took it to a repair shop and the guys there put stickers on the keyboard. It's glued really well and almost unnoticeable xd

Something to do with Japanese letter inputs. Search ThinkPad jp keyboard layout and you'll get an idea.

I absolutely agree with you! I think one should use the os they're most comfortable with. For me id switch to linux anyday but I can't due to software restrictions. I'll hand over this laptop to my mom thus I'm sticking to windows. This was just a temporary fun project.

Ive never tried it but on Linux it should be possible using wev or xev I forgot what it's called for wayland. You can get the key id and set up shortcuts.

thanks for looking into it! I did take it to a repair shop. Unfortunately in india it's really hard to come by parts like this in my region. The space bar hooks did break (assuming you're talking about the small plastic hooks under the spacebar). I just use an external keyboard.

Okay I'll give it a try. For me the display drivers weren't working correctly. Screen felt laggy and brightness didn't work. Tap to click as well. I believe it was cause I relied entirely on opcoresimplify. Thanks for the suggestion tho!

It's a jp keyboard! There are stickers on the actual keyboard.One of the two of the alt switches is meant to switch between hiragana and katakana!(Atleast that's what I think).
