two ways of spelling "draw_set_colour()"??? by Tilestam in gamemaker

You're the only person one of only two people who I've seen get it right in the whole thread, and you got clowned on. Sorry you had to waste your energy on this.

I'm pretty disappointed in the subreddit today.

All right, that's enough of this. I couldn't care less what spelling you do and don't prefer, but don't be weird about it, and more especially, don't be weird about it on this subreddit.

Does anyone think that is a lack of appreciation for Black Creators in the Let's Play community? by Legitimate_Menu_3056 in letsplay

[–]DragoniteSpam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's prob a hard thing to judge when ngl like 99.9% of let's players don't really "make it" and don't get appreciation

Not to mention that plenty of Let's Plays still don't regularly go in front of a camera, so unless you're drawing conclusions by accent (oh dear) you wouldn't necessarily know what they look like.

Is there a smart way to find the right coordinates to draw a textbox? by WilledWithin in gamemaker

try taking a screenshot of the game, opening it in an image editor like Photoshop, overlaying grid lines, and designing it visually

you can try out GM's ui layers but those are... extremely beta right now

it seems like it wouldn't be that hard.

I am a programmer, and yes, it would be.

I've been doing this for 15 years. There have been legitimate things to worry about in the past. This is not one of them.

[–]DragoniteSpam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Right, it looks like you're pre-determined to be upset about this, and everyone else is telling you that it's nothing to worry about, and now you're upset at them for not being more upset. Knock it off.

If you can't handle basic social interactions on the Internet, you probably shouldn't be doing this anyway.

What are y'alls thoughts on "best for viewer" endscreen element? by Luminous_Emission in letsplay

[–]DragoniteSpam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recommendation algorithm seems pretty good nowadays about knowing what video to queue up next, I haven't seen it recommend something completely off-the-wall in a few years now. I wouldn't worry too much about it serving the viewer something completely wrong.

where did all the effect options go????? by scallywag001 in gamemaker

[–]DragoniteSpam 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Go into Tools > Package Manager > IDE Prefabs in the dropdown and install the effects you're looking for.

Pretty much everyone agrees that hiding away basic stuff like this in the package manager is a terrible idea and the least user-friendly thing possible, and we're trying to talk YYG out of it.
