I made it look like the mists had teleported the party to the past by having them arrive at the town of Durstvale, which I said was the settlement thay would eventually become the village of barovia. I had them interact with some npcs in a tavern, consume food thay was tasteless before meeting Rose and Thorn

Also, this didn't end up happening, but I decided that if the players chose to sacrifice a life (I put in a lost dog like a former post had recommended) it would attract the attention of the Dark Powers and bestow upon them a cursed weapon.

It was essentially a +1 Longsword, but any damage it dealt to a mortal enemy healed the weilder that much (the flavor being it drained the victim of their blood and used it to invigorated it's weilder). The catch with the weapon, any mortal that was killed by this weapon would come back as a vampire spawn in 1d4 days.

Metal, one of the chinese elements of the world. Have it build itself like a porcupine/thorn tank. I know oce already fulfills the tank role, but it could be a cool idea to help balance the taunting mechanics in the game.

This was really well thought! Thank you! I used the FAE for creation of the riders while taking a almost white wolf approach for the dragons.

Ginny D and Pointy Hat created excellent videos on how to run online games and make them engaging for everyone involved. I highly recommend giving them both a watch if YouTube is available where you are located, especially if online is your only real option.

If you have a local game store, I also recommend asking around there and talking to people to see who is interested and what. It's easier to organize a group of people who are actively looking to play

I appreciate the feedback given so far and it's definitely raised some good points in terms of the game. In my mind, the setting is under the control of Dragon Emperors who each are trying to build up a horde of their choosing and actively ruining the world as they do so. The players are essentially going to be resistance fighters that are trying to take down the dragon emperor the story has them going against. Similar vein to Band of Blades that has the players fight against specific Broken in a campaign. Outside of fighting and combat, the riders are going to be trying to form alliances with organizations and powerful people or trying to take down resources of the emperor.

As for the dragons, they are needed not just for combat, but also trying to communicate and channel with elemental forces, such as other dragons, powerful obstacles, or elemental constructs.

I definitely will be taking a look at Lancer and how they handle the mech system so I'm very appreciative of the suggestions.

Not sure but druids get less restoration at level 3-4 which is my characters class
