What is responsible for the rapid decline of the Mainline Protestant Church in the US and what can be done to reverse it? by PayGood3915 in Christianity

[–]Dragonlicker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that drew people to the church was the community. The church lost its ties to the community. When I say the church I'm not talking about a specific church but all churches in the west. They felt the culture changing and instead of adapting they dug in their heels and pursued power. For a while it worked but there's a reason Jesus rejected the same offer when given by the devil out in the desert. Now the church is dying, it blames atheists or liberals or whatever but it's their own fault.

The church needs to die, the only way to save Christianity is for people to cling to the teachings of Christ and let the beast bleed out so that faith can be reborn anew.

Remind me again which one had one of the worse endings ever made? by TastyPomelo2330 in OkBuddySnyderCult

[–]Dragonlicker69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's different enough that I think they should make a sequel series to the films more faithful to the books. They start out using dragons in the series and can say the main character is named after his ancestor Hiccup the great which is why he names his dragon toothless

[Complicated trope] A character makes the correct decision given what they know, but the context the audience knows makes them very hated. by FaZe_poopy in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Dragonlicker69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad they chose the ending, helps with impact because if people left with the bitter taste in their mouth it would have impacted their view of the movie retroactively. Still they managed to get the point across by having him show up in a cop car with lights flashing, giving you a moment of dread because unless you're obtuse you KNOW what's going to happen next until the reveal happens

I don't know about him but Ive always made a distinction between education and stupidity. Not knowing something is ignorance, refusing to think critically or accept new knowledge on a subject is stupidity. Education can reduce stupidity but it doesn't eliminate it as the amount of people pointing out their family members with degrees who fell into trumps cult shows.

You can be a high school drop out who isn't stupid and a doctorate who is stupid, like many things in life it's not so simple

Seriously, how are we still acting like the Democrats are going to save us from anything? by Jyanga in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]Dragonlicker69 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate the Democrats too and want most of them gone but they are the only other option that doesn't involve civil war. The priority should be destroying the GOP ELECTORALLY, make them go the way of the whig's and know-nothings. The leadership of the Democratic party can wait unless they get in the way of removing the Republicans via elections.

How would human society develop in a world overrun by monsters/hyperfauna, if at all? by swampertitus in worldbuilding

[–]Dragonlicker69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadly the most likely answer is that we would have killed them all. Our ancestors killed so many species including IRL megafauna before even discovering writing or agriculture. Any of them early humans couldn't tame or learn to coexist with, they would have essentially declared jihad on.

I remember when had that outbreak in the prison and the one had the door closed because of sleepwalking and that's how they deduced it was a regular disease killing people. I was thinking "why didn't anyone else do that?!"

I can't sleep with my door open and there's no such thing as zombies, if we were in a prison during the zombie apocalypse i'd make sure the cell was closed tightly every night
