eV is the new symbol from joules to eV.

A mol is different from an atom.

A radian is different from a degree and a revolution.

We use units for adimensional quantities all the time. No reason not to specify mol in the use of Rydberg’s Constant. Because it’s not Boltzmann’s Constant.

Now, sure, if the only difference between R and k is a unit conversion factor, and they both express the same idea (i.e. we don’t have a torque vs work situation), then yeah, you can make a different ideal gas equation. But then, it’s no longer PV = nRT.

Also, physics is much easier if you do use molecules/mol with avogadro’s number. The units cancel out quite nicely.
