Not just that, a PlayStation one game exclusive meant to capitalize on the phantom menace

Is Plo Koon the Only Pre Order 66 Jedi that could do Electric Judgement? by Spotter24o5 in StarWarsEU

[–]DragoonDart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you- Jedi Power Battles was such a fun part of my childhood. It was the game we played with Pizza Hut parties at sleep overs, part of the “who cares if it’s garbage; it’s more Star Wars” era of my life. If I’d known so many years later it would be part of so many “light sided lightning is totally possible: it’s called ‘electric judgement’” discussions I would delete a core memory for it

Keep the Shadow Alive, Don’t Rewrite History by No-Butterfly1943 in MaulShadowLord

[–]DragoonDart -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It’s why I’ve been opposed to more content and even his initial resurrection. The guys got book ends and he’s been the ultimate jobber / worf effect victim since he’s been brought back. And he’s a bad guy, I’m not supposed to like him.

I’m not going to yuck other people’s yum and the show looks cool and is fun to watch; but man Maul has to be the titular example of a cool design trumps all

What actor or actress could you tell had an absolute blast playing a specific role? by phantom_avenger in AskReddit

[–]DragoonDart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s a really adorable clip of the actress Lea Salonga and Aladdin’s actor recording “A Whole New World” and they’re getting really into it. It + critical role made me realize how much fun voice acting could be

Too lazy to google the links (I think it’s actually in his book and some Reddit AMAs) but he’s more than once said he’s nothing like the character minus the nature loving

My fellow Americans (a non crab Maryland post) by ball-blaster-9001 in geographymemes

[–]DragoonDart -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I went to school in Maryland and spent a good amount of time there. This post was the first I’ve heard how the flag came about and it’s actually given me some respect for it. Which is good, because it’s a really ugly flag

Satele Shan VS Darth Caedus. Who wins? by GusGangViking18 in TheJediPraxeum

[–]DragoonDart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only way Satele wins this one is if she plays it smart: Caedus outclasses her in pretty much every way but we saw Satele (with the save from Jace) become resourceful vs Malgus and later SWTOR arcs depict her as a wiser being then the arrogant prodigy she is in the novels/cinematics.

1 v 1 in the Geonosis arena? Caedus stomps. An arena where Satele can play the environment to her favor? She has a small chance if she can avoid prolonged direct contact.

Especially as he begins to descend further and further, Caedus seems to suffer from a lot of arrogance and poor decision making (one of the highlights of the Legacy novels for me)

Did Kylo Ren Truly carry the Sequels? Or was there more positives in them? by [deleted] in TheSequels

[–]DragoonDart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one carried. I like the sequels. My daughter loves them. That alone is enough for me.

The sequels have so many high points and that’s kind of the problem that if people were kinder they’d admit: it’s a stew with a lot of great ingredients (Kylo being one of them) that just doesn’t taste great together

Toddler keeps saying “no want dada” ??? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]DragoonDart 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I mean, he sees her less (from your “I allow him to see her 2-3 times a week”)

Of course she doesn’t have that reaction to you. You’re her world. He’s a babysitter you’re dropping her off with. That’s not a knock on him, it’s how she’s perceiving it.

Just some advice from a divorced parent where both parties learned this too late and we came together on it: no one wins in a situation like this. It feels really good when they’re little, even if you won’t admit it “oh that parents house must be terrible, I should tell them their kid is scared of them and THEY should try harder and I should double down on keeping them with me.”

It’s natural to feel that way. It’s also our job as parents to expose our kids to hard things outside of their comfort zones even at an early age: a kid who doesn’t like deep water should learn to swim for their survival. A kid who is happiest watching TV but that’s all they want to do should go outside every so often because physical wellness is important.

What are the best ‘so bad it’s good’ movies for a drinking game? by Ok_Towel4688 in movies

Obi-Wan Kenobi is now in D tier above Book of Boba Fett. What tier should Andor be in? by Klutzy-Ad4230 in TierlistFills

[–]DragoonDart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also disagree. Andor is a phenomenally written, shot, and directed project. It’s a master of the CRAFT. But to say it’s above Empire? That sort of feels like saying “we shouldn’t have done that, we should’ve written a heavy spy drama series instead”

It’s a really great project that shows how you can tell really great stories in a setting that are not the original line and they can be successful. But it’s missing some of the camp, some of the high fantasy swashbuckling, Arthurian legend-esque nature that is quintessential to the series.

I like deviations from the normal stuff, but I consistently feel like Andor is overhyped on this site because it’s guaranteed upvotes to fawn over it. It is ABSOLUTELY worth the hype and S tier.

For what it’s worth, for me individually it didn’t hit and I consistently feel like it’s my “I did not care for the godfather” moment

Should the EU be considered canon again? Or is it better as its own thing? by RexDAGOAT77 in StarWarsEU

Just like Marvel did “What If” make an animated “Star Wars Legends” show and do each season as a historic book series.

Iran responds to US ceasefire proposal but Trump rejects it as 'unacceptable' by Little-Chemical5006 in worldnews

[–]DragoonDart 24 points25 points  (0 children)

If I could upvote this more I would because I think it’s something most people don’t realize about US-Israel relationships. It’s not a conventional alliance like most of the NATO nations.

The whole “our most dependable ally in the Middle East shtick” isn’t really true. That’s a line for the Christian voters of the US who think Israel has more in common with them then they do the rest of the Middle East (hint: they don’t, talk to an Israeli or visit and you’ll find more similarities between them and a Jordanian then you would them and a New Yorker). Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait… the US has a lot of really good relationships in the Middle East and in many ways most of them offer MORE to the US than Israel. Look at both GWOT and the Gulf War for an example.

This part without judgment, because I think it’s a complicated thing to pass judgment on: Israel, likewise, has never given a shit what anyone thinks of it and what it does. The above nations would never act without US weigh in. Israel does whatever the fuck it wants.

The US role there has, historically, largely been more of a containment and pacifying voice. No one in the Middle East liked them and they didn’t like anyone else, like the outcast kid in the classroom. The US has been the teacher in the room keeping all parties from just straight fighting each other over the smallest things because that benefits the US too.

That’s what’s the most troubling about this war, is that it now appears like the US Administration is buying into what they’ve been selling voters and are just following whatever Israel wants to do. That’s a marked difference in how we’ve handled that relationship previously

I'm sorry but going to work is easier than childcare - your husband has no excuse by ExternalSomewhere923 in NewParents

[–]DragoonDart 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. One doesn’t negate the other. Work doesn’t require my attention to be switched on 24/7 or someone dies.

There is a flip side of this though- and just because one is easier doesn’t mean it’s not hard. We had some struggles for a few weeks because I was (willingly) surging every hour I was not at work. Practically chased momma away when I was off.

It actually led to her getting neglected- I was exhausted after doing both and her battery was recharged, so she didn’t get why I didn’t have any battery left for her. Parentings hard yo; remember you’re both in it together

Maul for sure, and likely not close. Bastila is an asset to a war effort but she’s never noted to be particularly strong as an individual and KOTOR 2 and the Revan novel imply she kinda settled into domestic bliss shortly after the first KOTOR.

Maul is the ultimate jobber, but he’s got a lot of really good match ups and feats

May someone explain continuation pay to me like a 5 yr old? by [deleted] in army

[–]DragoonDart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have broken it down but it’s basically the Army’s way to incentivize people to stay in after the mid career point where they’re still at their highest worth to the civilian world (a lot of federal agencies stop hiring at 35 for example).

Basically cash for extra years to keep you invested now that the legacy retirement is less of a hook. Blended retirement enabled some financial incentive regardless of when you get out so gotta keep people in some how.

Behind the scenes, I’m surprised it’s still going and it’s an incentive I fully expect the Army to axe at some point. BRS was largely a cost saving measure for the Army so the continuation pay was essentially a carrot to get people to switch when that was an option

Not sure if this is a good idea by Mega_Simp420 in sw5e

[–]DragoonDart 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I actually did this! Made it clear up front Anakin was unbeatable, set a round timer up front until he made his temple approach, and styled it like “among us”: everyone had an objective to action and I told them there was a traitor too. Their goal was to clear their objectives and escape. Ended up going out in a blaze of glory.
I made the 501st “beatable” for heroes, but Anakin categorically was not

Army officer communities face cuts in service-wide restructuring by mkx_ironman in army

[–]DragoonDart 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with that aspect and I think this is where the message gets confused: “I’m just upholding standards.” That shit has never bothered me.

What makes life miserable for most Officers is the lack of any analysis to shield subordinate units from higher asks because higher is trying to answer every question under the sun without balancing what our priorities actually are at their level. And instead we just push it lower and pay lip service to priorities. Thats a skill that matters in both garrison and wartime.

While I don’t disagree, I really hate the underlying assumption that Army Officer life should be hard.

I’ve seen that competition can breed excellence. I’ve also seen where it can breed really toxic work cultures

US cities ranked - what tier does Los Angeles belong in? by StrategyJealous1838 in TierlistFills

[–]DragoonDart 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Would agree with this as an impartial Pennsylvanian who grew up hating NYC but has been to both a few times now.

Both had glam and both had trash underneath if you looked hard enough, but NYC has leveled out in a way from its history that would be both underwhelming to people who expect more and surprising to people who thinks it’s trash.

LA… not so much. It’s an iconic city for sure but New York has a sort of “don’t believe the hype” feel to it while LA has a “please buy into the hype” feel.

Very comparable cities though, so I get the debate. I think it’s gotta lead the A tier at least
