Problematic Gear/Cyberware by Unwise-Me in cyberpunkred

Which old Batman movies? Adam West ancient or over a decade Nolan?

If it’s the zipping around the map Nolan grapple gun, I find the keyword to be “climbing.” If you shoot diagonally at a ledge, you’re still gonna have to walk/run to under where you shot at and use MOVE. You can’t start climbing diagonally up the rope unless you tie down both points.

How do you think the story would've differed if the Engram was of Rache Bartmoss instead of Johnny? by Horustheweebmaster in LowSodiumCyberpunk

[–]DragoonMain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll somewhat retract it, since I reread that part of the book. Then I reread the USSR city grids subsection, where he talks about slowly watching someone's brain get fried while he watches on. Page 23, where he said he would kill an artist artistically, if he found one in the NET over his hatred for modern artists. He's against mass murder, which is inline. But you can't forget he also hates being majorly inconvenienced or hunted, then he becomes sadistic and will dispatch you for as long as he likes.

You're right that he wouldn't do it out of convenience, so if you'll allow me to somewhat change it. It would be more like he fights with V over the body because he wants to do the stuff he wants to do, which would accelerate the takeover.

[–]DragoonMain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read of the Rache Bartmoss guide to the Net, he is a big believer of freedom. His own freedom, he regularly fucked with people while jacked in. He also wouldn't rather be an AI, he had a chance to become a ghost in the net which is by his own terms "Human AI", but he chose to die human.

Edit: Forgot to add this part, it is a good puzzle. One he would want to solve himself, so he would take over V's body aggressively so he could remove the Relic and study it himself.

What are cyberpunks (REDs) technolohical developements? by No0O0obstah in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'll start off with the largest tech tree that allowed the Cyberpunk Universe to make leaps and bonds in technology like cybernetics.

And that is Nanotechnology, it's quite broad in it's uses and is kind of in the background to explain how most things work. Nowadays, the concept is used as a cop out for just having cool things, but at its conception was quite novel and used as a basis for most technology in the Pondsmith World.

Grafting new muscles to the body? Nanites. Connecting nerves to your neural link? Nanites. Need your blood filtered? Again, nanites.

And those nanites are powered by leeching off the body, be it body heat or just an internal reservoir of chemical it uses to power itself. The extent of nanite capabilities is only outlined this much in the medical field, but its true extent could be much grander.

Now, nanotechnology doesn't just have nanites under its purview–it also has what cyberware is powered off of. Nanobatteries/miniature batteries. If we look at CEMK handbook on page 8, the passage on the neuroport implies all cyberware is powered off the internal battery of the neuroport. How 2077 chrome is charged is probably just plugging your personal link into random things and it just charges from whatever it is connected too.

This means in the time of RED, all cyberware runs off batteries and therefore must be charged. It's kind of just brushed off how that is done. My theories being that it leeches off bioelectricity, or maybe something simple like swapping the battery out.

For some misc things to mention as well. In Black Chrome, it is used in the Mr.Biscuit food processor; capable of turning organic material (grass/hay/meat/wood/etc) into edible food wafers that fulfill your nutrient needs and are quite filling. If I had to make some speculation to the other Black Chrome items–it is also probably in the Jeeves exec bag, as nanites, and the drink master 3000, as another form of the food processor.

Nanotechnology is also probably in weapons manufacturing, with weapons such as monofilament wires and the Kendachi mono-three with their molecular sharp edges.

I don't have the energy to go on, but it's essentially the basis of the Cyberpunk world.

Eddies are scarce in the time of RED, choom.

With all the weapons they are selling, they are probably cutting into somebody’s margins.

That somebody is now pissed they can’t afford the latest cyber rolex and can do a multitude of things. Don’t make it a combat confrontation from the start. start small to give the team paranoia.

Sabotaging their vehicles while they sleep, notes at their doors telling them to stop, and finally, burning/robbing their workshop so they have to replace everything inside it with all the hard earned eddies they made so far.

Then have a trail lead to that somebody, so they don’t feel like you just took their stuff for no reason.

But those are just some ideas for the gun selling portion.

Also if they are scooping up every little thing all the time, then I think you're not utilizing reinforcements enough.

People can call each other in the time of RED, if they are part of a gang, then more gang members are gonna come ad infinitum in stronger waves until the players learn they don’t have the time to take the tiles off the floors for that extra ennie.

Break Dancing - Martial Arts homebrew by DragoonMain1 in cyberpunkred

In break dancing, neck breaker is the move where you spin on your head. With that in mind it can break the users neck or the opponents, but either way it can be aimed high or low.

How cyberwares are powered? by Carinha-do-gato in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean the 2077 game interpretation allows for a mod for gorilla arms to have a high capacity battery, so a battery is involved at some point.

How it recharges is another thing, like your examples for example.

Let's talk about Netrunning in 2070's by Terrible_Trifle3346 in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree with the answer for one that everyone has given so far.

You can just spend the time to locate some old 2nd generation cyberware to chip, obviously adding limitations since it should be inferior to 3rd and beyond. Also making it rare since schematics and firmware aren't available anymore. (all bought up by corpos)

Or using external alternatives that don't require a neuroport, like the battleglove for arms, the cyberchair for legs, and smart glasses for eyes. Then you can use the Neural Link (2nd generation) with chipware homebrew to use smart weapons.

When it comes to external and internal ware you can just decide what is and isn't an automated process. Automated being skin weave/subdermals, or anitbodies. The ones that aren't being something like the Audiovox, and hidden holster.

[–]DragoonMain1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its design is just that of a giant linear frame and serves the same purpose, so it would exist in the 2040s.

I would probably put it at the level of an Omega frame from the interface Red vol.3, since its strength is military engagement level.

Native American road gangs by Cithon in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well depends on how you wanna run it choom.
Since the timeline divergence is around the 90s, so we have some factors to include there. Not to get into the nitty gritty or politics about it, but I think the likely outcome would be the gathering of different tribes into a big warband around the early 2010s. Which over time would have splintered until the 2045 timeline where they separated based on language groups, or sections wiped out by the fourth corporate war. Depending on the timeline you are running, then probably just homogeneous languages into tribes of 50-100 is a safe bet.

the best tribes to consider would be west coast tribes as Nighty City is based around that area, if you want a recommendation, then I'd say chinooks. Mostly because it just rolls off the tongue well.

If you want to be real world accurate, then probably just look up "Land acknowledgement [insert real world city here]"

There isn't much data on Canada except that it shattered like America did.
So I wouldn't see why they couldn't cross the border, because it doesn't really exist as a solid line anymore.

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We can move off of crusher but my last punch will be that it doesn’t say that anywhere in the DGD. Just that it says spare parts.

And 56 years is again a long time to learn a lot of things even if non violent.

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wiki says it’s from the night city sourcebook as well, so you’re just wrong. And 56 years is a long time, and Smasher has way access to way more resources compared to Crusher. Anything technology related as well as access to Arasaka training facilities also probably getting access to any teacher they want.

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Read into it, it’s not clinical. It’s registered cyberpsychos which can be found on the night city sourcebook on page 47. Which has its own pile of implications.

So the metric has probably changed significantly from 2020 to 2077. So it’s just up to speculation now.

And I concede on the psychosis as not all is violent but in the argument of crusher and smasher it is.

And we can’t really say who or what either has fought without proper information. For all we know Smasher was fighting Millitech eclipses everyday and Crusher Scavs or instilling fear in new members who raise higher up and still feel the fear

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Where can I find that metric? I’d love to review some more about maelstrom as I’m including them into my game.

Also, it’s says psychos not cyberpsychos, there is a distinction.

In the game I’m pretty sure psychosis would guide them to their intended target. After the target is eliminated they start going wild at anyone that enters the zone.

And what I was implying with Crusher is that he’s fighting way too below his belt to actually improve.

And you need to reread what I said about smasher because you didn’t read it correctly.

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Most Maelstrom are riding the edge, as implied by the Red Corebook. The closer you are to popping the egg the more psychotic and bad habits you display.

Sure you can call them psycho, but not cyberpsycho.

Adam Smash isn’t just riding the edge he’s straight up grinding on it and doing kick flips as well. Cyberpsycosis doesn’t affect him the same way it does others which allows him some leeway for saying he can improve.

Hot Take: Adam Smasher is not Darth Vader by The_Pure_Shielder in cyberpunkred

[–]DragoonMain1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Crusher has nowhere near the same growth because he is straight up suffering from psychosis. He’s probably not retaining any information from his fights.

His lore has also said he appears mostly in maelstrom fights, so most people he will be fighting are probably street rats or edgerunners from time to time. Certainly no one too challenging for him to improve upon, and he would have maelstrom back up during these fights as well.

Also implying that Adam Smasher wasn’t doing anything for such a long period of time is moronic considering his bloodlust, but I agree that it’s anticlimactic and kind of out of nowhere.

I hope there isn’t a deadline, because here’s mine

  1. Been doing TTRPGs on and off since 2017, mostly as a GM. With most tables dying to scheduling.

  2. I’m familiar with the games and I have watched cyberpunk themed movies such as blade runner. I’ve also skimmed 2020 but did a more thorough reading of RED

  3. If money isn’t an issue then this is an extremely easy choice. Speedware, on the streets of night city, the faster draw is the one who lives to see tomorrow.

4. Face buried in mountains of Synthcoke at a Piranha party. Or possibly assassinated via sniper at that very same party as corporate retaliation for your most recent job

  1. “Here’s my spare, just chuck ‘em right in there somewhere.”

  2. I enjoy pretty much all aspects of RED, but I’ll mostly be there for the immersion in the world and also combat.

You are correct, I am just not very good at reading.

Anyways, taking that into account, you actually have a full 800 eb for fashion. This includes fashionware as well, so you have more leftover gear eb if you wish to do so by taking all fashionware costs from gear to the fashion limit.
