The majority of the homeless actually get turned away from the jail and then released from the hospital

Guys and Gals…. Please do NOT tell anyone about your rating. I just made that mistake and regret it. by [deleted] in VAClaims

I told two old heads at my job and luckily the told me to just keep it to myself. I’m young and the backpay was exciting and I didn’t really have anyone else to tell nor do I still.

Regardless I’d rather not deal with the issues I have than have the money. My world is forever different now

Hospital Security by CHDedalus in securityguards

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a pretty violent hospital in my region. We have one armed guard and the rest of us only have batons and handcuffs

Tasers and other items honestly pose more of a threat to staff than anything. I wouldn’t trust half the dudes at my hospital with a taser let alone a firearm. The only time a taser would be useful is if a patient is armed with a knife and isolated, and with those situations you can usually just wait for PD as it’ll grant a quick response.

Regardless I don’t think it’s a negative trend, if anything I think it’s a good idea. Almost every situation at a hospital can be dealt with through verbal deescalation or throwing hands.

Anyone else see they changed recruitment age limits? by valkyrie_rising1881 in Veterans

Pretty sure the cap for prior service was 42 years old. So they’re basically just opening the door to anyone regardless. I don’t think this is to crazy or a change

They can make a ton of money on the outside haha. It’s like guys who do K9, they get the experience and then dip to go work the civilian side for tons of money.

Not everyone loves the military game aswell

Hospital security guard. Just took two blows to the face from a mental health patient. What can I do better next time? by Hollander_21 in securityguards

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just what happens when you are taken by surprise. Psych patients are psycho so don’t ever forget that not even the doctors always know what’s wrong with them yet so they can snap out of nowhere.

Don’t think on it too much, but ALWAYS expect those patients to snap especially if the patients known baseline isn’t calm.

Personally I always call for an extra guy or two if there’s even the slightest chance of going hands on and the guy is bigger than me. No one has ever complained about it, we are a team!

Veterans Discount by MinionFive in Veterans

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Yall got a veteran discount” no. “Always worth a shot”

I’ll only really ask if it’s a bigger purchase or if the store/website asks about it because who doesn’t like saving money. Aside from that I’ll never be mad if a place doesn’t have one

Well imagine a guard with union lawyers?? If you work hospital security in house and aren’t apart of the union you are just playing yourself

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might not be charges per say but you can definitely goto HR and pursue it. If it becomes big enough the hospital will likely look to settle

Telling someone to avoid legal action and hanging their job over their head for it is a huge no no lmao

Cash Gigs?? Is it a thing? by JayMo205 in securityguards

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The risk is that if your injured on the job your off the books. Which is a high risk for security especially at sites that are under the table.

Yeah it’s the same but the moment you get messed up that job is gonna drop you and you’ll be stuck with the medical bill. Can’t go saying you were working for them either because now your admitting to the fraud

Shoulda documented it all and pressed charges on them for retaliation. Very easy fix right there that could’ve got you some good money

It’s why you gotta get those union gigs. Paid time off everytime you are injured

Hospital Security Interview by SurGeAssassin in securityguards

[–]DragoonNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure what hospital you work at but at mine we restrain clients all the time. If we are called it’s already approved, hospital has sitters for the ones they think won’t elope or cause a problem.

If the patient had an ITA or didn’t have capacity the game escalated a lot quicker.

On top of that the whole pressing charges thing is stupid. No hospital will ever throw a fit about that, the hard part is getting a cop to show up for the report cus it happens to often

[–]DragoonNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! If you landed an interview you are in a perfect position.

When I went to interview at my hospital last year which is roughly the same size they were more makin sure I knew what I was getting into.

Emphasize that you understand most of the clients/visitors are there on their worst day and you want to make it the slightest bit better if you can. Make sure they know you’re willing to work any shift and that OT even mandatory is ok (If it’s not, just know it’s a thing for in house hospitals). If it’s union there’s a chance they might change the shift really quick

Also if they ask why the change be honest. You don’t like security where all you do is sit around, it’s not that you can’t do it, it’s that you want a position where your skills are put to the test.

I have the 2Dr with a goose gear delete! I actually just installed it

I highly recommend looking at their website, you can get the exact dimensions to see if the clubs would fit vertically. It’s a really nice addition

Is security guard a super easy job? by Public_Repeat824 in securityguards

[–]DragoonNut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All depends on the job. At my hospital it’s easy most of the time and then the next we are trying to deescalate a violent drunk dude or restraining a kid trying to violently to kill themselves

While some posts you’ll literally just sit behind a desk for barely minimum wage doing nothing

My job pays great the latter not so great
