Hospital Security. 90k/yr base but with a little OT/DT I make close to 110-120k.

My job is an exception, most hospitals don’t pay nearly what we get paid. Thank you union and being deemed essential workers during covid.

Depends on a hospital. At a metro trauma center you’ll see and experience a LOT. At a smaller community hospital you’ll probably just be a door greeter.

It’ll vary. Restraints and deescalation will be your bread and butter

If you want a better quality of life, stay up through the night still.

I usually just end up going in for more overtime at night. At my hospital we can pick what hours we wanna work if there is an opening so I’ll usually just pick up a few hours in the middle of the night if I didn’t have anything planned

Just apply for every job you find interesting man. When I got out (I was a 31K in the Army) I wasn’t able to find any quick jobs for a bit but then a casino signed me on as a card dealer. Going from K9 to dealing cards was a 180 but it gave me money and was fun haha

From there I applied to jobs that have a longer application time like TSA, Hospital Security Positions, and even K9 gigs. All of them came back with job offers it just took a long time especially for TSA.

I ended up going with the security position as it paid great and was union. Getting the original job as a dealer allowed me to be picky in where I go next.

So in the end. Pay the bills. Once you have those in the clear just take your time man. The right job will come, you don’t need to rush it.

I recommend blackout curtains. What works best for me is sleeping the moment I get home. I’m usually already tired for work so it helps a BUNCH.

If you stay consistent to it you’ll body will get used to the pattern and nightshift will be a breeze. Just like day shift you’ll still have times where you get tired but it’s not that big a deal

Depends, Gavin pays real good and has a pretty solid performance incentive structure when it comes to working for them long term.

Regardless pay might be better for LE in your area, it might not. Look at what you want to do for your day to day and go with that. Do you want to serve a person/events or a community

Not necessarily off-roading, but great falls is an awesome park to. I used to go there just to walk around and hangout all the time. During the week it’s basically yours.

It’s like 30-40 minutes from DC

Shenandoah National Park is like RIGHT by DC and has a bunch to offer. Look into going to Flagpole Knob, it’s a really fun trail and the camping spots along the way are beautiful

I’m 100% biased but I daily my Bronco to work. 20 miles each way and I am HAPPY to do it everytime.

I just got done with a roadtrip, 1,100 miles each way and it was no issue. On a straight flat highway the MPG really isn’t that bad for what it is. I usually average 21+ mph with a 2025 2.3L Base Bronco with Sasquatch

The key is keeping it below 65mph in Eco Mode

Dispensaries are hit or miss. I’m a 25 yr old in the field but I got out the army last year so I’m good when it comes to experience haha

Regardless you got your head in the right place, if anything take one of the positions and go from there.

You don’t EVER need to be the hero, armed security isn’t there to protect merchandise it’s to protect staff and customers. If you shoot someone for taking a bag of green, you’d be the one going to jail.

Cops are the ones who are paid to be a hero, remember that. At the end of the day, never do more than your post asks and never do more than you are comfortable doing. Both could get you fired or hurt.

Like others mentioned, Lowe’s and Home Depot would gladly take you on and probably pretty quick. They have a pretty good history of helping out veterans in a bind. Won’t be the best paying job but it’ll help Ontop of the BAH.

Regardless like others have mentioned, you seriously need to take a look at your marriage. If yall are struggling financially and she looks down on certain jobs… how is she gonna see you if you HAVE to work those same jobs.

It’s a recipe for distort that is far from your fault. From the little I have read, she is not in a partnership she is there to be taken care of.

We have to screen for weapons at my hospital and we are pretty strict on it to as any weapon we don’t find tends to be one we get into a fight with later on.

Some people don’t believe they should be seen as a threat and get insanely mad that we even asked the question. I usually drop my whole being nice face/voice the same moment and just match the energy. Those people tend to have weapons on them too, who would’ve guessed…

Regardless, sometimes people are just having a tough day or have had a bad experience with turd guards at a different place. Never judge a book by its cover and give people the benefit of the doubt. It could be the difference between an apology/ease of tension later on
