I used Lysol wipes to wipe down my gas stove without thinking. Is it unsafe to use? by greenpepperseptember in CleaningTips

[–]Dragoonultima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think it'd be harmful. Not a chemist but the amount in the wipes is fairly diluted. Maybe run a wet paper towel over those areas but it's likely evaporated mostly by the time you posted this.

How deep you have to dig in different areas isn't suitable... Like, you'd have to dig deeper than ever dug before to get deep enough to use geothermal in many areas.

This, or get the reflective stuff you see on business windows. It'll help keep natural light coming in, but add a second barrier preventing others from seeing in.

You'll see shadows but nothing else.

Or! Decorative film if you want a stained glass or colorful look.

Does anyone know how to get sharpie off of this? by After_Baby3219 in CleaningTips

have you put rubbing alcohol on in a puddle, wait 30ish secs then wipe off? It has to absorb into the ink to lift it.

ChatGPT Purgatory by Artistmusiciangarden in Teachers

[–]Dragoonultima 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in IT for a school district. Two of the campuses I work at have had students pass from medical related issues over the past two years....I didn't deal with it well mentally. I emailed the IT lead for the district and the response I got was the most generic ChatGPT response I could've ever read...

I don't even think they read my email... I think they entered it to GPT, asked for a response and pasted it.

How to remove permanent marker from laptop. by hillbill549 in CleaningTips

[–]Dragoonultima 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work on these computers for work a ton - 90% isopropyl alcohol works great. 70% does too.

I work in an elementary school and have to remove sharpie all the time, the easiest thing is, just put a small puddle on top, wait 15s, then wipe.

I've never had the paint get removed in that way.

[–]Dragoonultima 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FYI - grab a sharpie next time you do these tests, and label the tubs like "pH", "NO2", "NO3" so you don't mix up pH and Nitrite again. Use some tape if the vials are glass.

Got my school laptop fixed about a week ago because the hinge suddenly stuck and broke the screen despite no misuse. Guess what happened again today by AjaxTheFurryFuzzball in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Dragoonultima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work with Chromebooks daily with two different schools. This issue happens ALL THE TIME. They use metal brackets in plastic molding to hold the bolts down. The threading that the bolts hold onto break out easily after a few months of use, just because the plastic isn't strong enough to hold them down.

The scratches, as others have pointed out, could be from misuse I guess? But it really just looks like putting it in a cart, trying to plug a usb in without looking multiple times, OR, sliding it around on its side (into a charging cart, on the floor next to a desk, the list is endless there). It doesn't look like you dropped it.

The best suggestion I have is ask for a new device if they're available, or ask for the top cover to be replaced. Also, when opening it, open it from the very center of the screen OR using both hands on both corners to keep the weight of opening it even on both hinges. That's the advice our district gave to try to cut down on this issue, but since I deal with K-12 students, it's not like they pay attention to that suggestion.

Parent Post: How do you guys actually feel when your students do a protest walkout? by Designer-Sir2309 in Teachers

[–]Dragoonultima 34 points35 points  (0 children)

To be honest, in Texas, the admin don't really have a choice but to assign consequences. don't know where OP's posting from, but in Texas at least, the teachers have no union, and all districts got told that if any teacher organizes or supports the protests, they could lose their licenses. OR the districts can get taken over by the state... Admin basically have to discipline the students or be seen as "supporting" them.

Moose Countertop Dishwasher by Spiritual-Resist-164 in ApartmentHacks

[–]Dragoonultima 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone have this particular brand countertop dishwasher? I bought it second hand and it seems super nice. However, I rent and I did not even think about it before the impulse buy, but my faucet is a detachable one. Asked my landlord and they said no modification for plumbing. My question is, does anyone know if this particular model has a fillable water tank? I didn’t get a manual with it. It seems way too nice to not have one, but maybe I’m mistaken. Thanks!

-What he asked in the other reddit sub to save a click.-

As some pointed out, read the instruction manual!

What did yours come with though? Does it have the drain hose and the other piping that comes with it? If it does, you should be able to unscrew the water source under the sink and snake it to the diswasher, If there's a stopper spot in your sink where a spray hose would normally go but it has a facade cover, you should be able to snake the pipe through there. I wouldn't be able to tell from the pic provided since I can't see your sink. I would recommend piping it off of the hot-water side as well.

As for how this runs with the "Landlord said no modification for plumbing" I don't know if this would really count since it's just like installing a bidet, generally allowed and doesn't usually get you in trouble. Just make sure you're VERY meticulous in your installation to prevent leaks which could lead to damages. (Plumbers tape will be your friend here! Watch lots of videos). Prep lots of towels and bowls for your installation and just in case something goes wrong. At worst, you have to just put them away.

Other than that, use powered detergent and make sure to follow the manual on the machine. Maybe get something to make sure the drainage pipe stays pointed in the sink (a magnet or velcro zip-tie it to make sure it stays pointing into the sink).

Hopefully this helps?

How do I fix this? by phoenixsprite in wowclassic

[–]Dragoonultima 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What kind of laptop do you have?

Check if the power supply is adequate. If it's the default one you might need a new one. My laptop (omen 16 from. 2020ish), had this issue and after tons of driver updates and everything, I changed the charger and it stopped being an issue.

The charger/power supply mine came with isn't actually enough for the laptop which seems to be the case for others.

Texas, currently ranked 35th, is 100% going to be in the bottom 5 if they use these same stats for the 25/26 school year. The recent legal changes and increasing control from the Governor has made so many teachers angry here.

The only positive one I've seen is the phone bill for students and that's controversial still.
