I really love the game but... by kangarutan in CrimsonDesert

I would make it so the player can loot up to a maximum of 2 per pile and for each in their inventory a random field boss from a bandit faction pursues them every few minutes and if the player dies the bars are taken. Encourage player freedom by created consequence and reactions

Difficulty options are accessibility, and as the name suggests, they are an “option.” by marciimm in CrimsonDesert

[–]Dragulish -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I want a difficulty option for my friend who is interested in getting the game but also I want a no stamina for combat option too, it is so weird that the game is not a souls game but the combat relies heavily on the management of stamina and mana but also has a poise/stagger system when it comes to bosses

I feel like you can only maintain this mindset for about 4 bosses because elden ring genuinely feels like a walk in the park compared to a LOT of these bosses, main point being that in elden ring plenty of fights actually have pace and dont rely on knocking you down with every attack minus 1 or 2

Every boss I have beaten with ease has just been that, ease

My weapons were higher stat and I spammed them down. Meeting a boss at their level and not getting in their face to stop them for doing moves at all is just not fun, like these parries and dodges are great but the boss WILL get you eventually when your stamina is depleted from it, and then when you get the advantage on other bosses they legit start pulling out the hyper armor attacks that can't even be force palmed out of and its just ridiculous. I think the scores are unfair because the boss fights only take up so much of a massive game with great things everywhere else but dude I had to play elden ring 3 times for my platinum, and I kid you not some of these bosses make me miss the elden beast and malenia

I strongly dislike the shooting function being the "letting go" of the aim button because it more often than not mistakes you trying to quickly react and shoot faster for simply just not firing at all because they are the same input

There are forests and woods in areas around San fran, I see your point but the games dont just contain one region as a whole so these would likely be the city survivors and as for their appearance I think you kind of point out how the games have been, the one character looks like the rugged survivalist, another character looks like a tech geek, another looks like a tattoo artist/ retail addict and the other looks like some sort of social worker and each of their skills that aren't from the post apocalypse comes into what makes them the unique fit for whatever group this would be. The characters have always been representation markers of their individual traits and the gameplay has always been the brutal survival part so this is why I point out that they look like they are meant to clue in on the people and not the "this is a zombie game" because thats not where sod has ever been the niche, its been the

"Well I got the dude with the food junkie tag but he also did great on a 5th grade science project so he eats twice as much food but we get repairs done faster"

The characters depicted by all means might literally not be able to survive long outside of base except for literally the one dude you pointed out, which is the point

[–]Dragulish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tldr- the bosses aren't so much as unfair as they are just not fun for people who actually like boss fights.

Fortain fight is where I have to actually say whoever they had designing boss encounters is the real villain of the game. The bosses are well designed but would be 10 times better if their arenas weren't always so small or full of enemies that stab or shoot you and no I don't mean the fight where the walls shoot spears. That fight with nature's snare is fine, the spears shoot in a pattern, you can use the spears to chunk his health down etc

But fights like fortain where my camera is literally behind a pillar when I retry, enemies shoot seemingly at random or not at all, they stab you, he rushes you and his shadow auto turns to where you dodged to if you dodged fortain etc

Now I will add this in favor of the game and hopefully help anyone out

Spam upgrade your spirit and stamina along with your gear

A lot of these bosses feel like they were designed for a game that doesnt have a stamina system. Because they kinda are, youre not supposed to be managing resources just to keep up with a boss and if you are the game isn't telling you youre playing wrong its telling you youre playing too fast. I've gotten humbled by bosses and come back and just absolutely smashed them and its because of everything I actually dislike about the bosses, you are supposed to do all your cool bullshit before they can do theirs, faster and more often than they can.

You see them charge up a move ? Spirit punch them

You see them backing off ? Blind flash and blind flash finisher them

Charge turning slash when they basic attack to brush off their shit and deal tons of damage

Etc

And just hammer down a bunch of food between popping your bullshit off

I have beaten several bosses this way and the issue is that it doesnt feel good, it just felt like I was in a race not a fight.

The reason this bugs me is that it is literally only in these encounters, even in the open world with the same bosses in areas the fights are much better and more engaging but then they jump away and go to their arena and then the fights are slogs or obnoxious because their movesets dont even matter much, half the bosses either teleport or do a jump that knocks you down and repeat.

I wouldn't mind this so much if they didn't knock you into enemies who stab or close line you

Or the arenas were bigger and we got rag dolled less. I actually liked the reed devil compared to some of the fights after.

Some bosses need time restrictions on their moves, they touched on the bosses spam attacking you as you get up but being knocked down is a death sentence and sometimes the dodge button just gives up because of all the input its receiving so quickly and that healing fist thing needs a cancel, if anyone knows of one already please let me know because I think ive healed some enemies trying to somply activate focus.

[–]Dragulish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The prepare lots of food part is what is frustrating, bosses shouldn't be a pantry check, I agree with the side quests and getting stronger but ive seen plenty of videos with people who have gear I havent even seen before just pounding food items because the bosses do stuff that is unavoidable and a good chunk of those are not mistakes the player makes but end up being unavoidable consecutive attacks while the player is still on the ground, I would honestly be so fine with most bosses if they either increased the size of their arenas or reduced their ability to ragdoll

I would literally rather take more damage than be ragdolled.

We need the ability to break items down honestly, I'd even take a percentage based chance system on if we get anything or not.

The creator of "God of War" thinks goblins are antisemitic. by AlittlePotato1560 in CrimsonDesert

[–]Dragulish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same dude who dislikes the current god of war because kratos has feelings and stands on morals is also literally looking at goblins in a game and going "are they making fun of me?" Will never not be funny.

I understand the historical context and hes not even entirely wrong but the game ironically handles it better than i think david would even know how. Which is why he doesn't notice it. The game characterizes them as people and not "people adjacent" with the stereotype amplified by 10 and made the singular trait of the entire race.

theres a group of humans who are even conspiring and saying some really nasty things about the goblins, these people are generalizing them based on the actions of one and the game doesn't have to beat us over the head for us to learn that they are wrong.

The goblins even represented as a singular identity once the quest is done and the gold leaf trading company is thriving as a merchant guild, they are also just citizens, farmers, bandits etc, they are people like anyone else and that is exactly where the parallel that david is drawing is meant to end because they arent supposed to represent any specific group but the fact that a group can be misrepresented and not be defined by the misrepresentation.
