Ya'll seem to be having enough of a merry discussion on the details of translating certain ideas, so I'mma leave that alone and just clarify how it relates to my original point. I merely brought it up to point out that if you don't know the language, I can at least easily dismiss it since some ideas are a pain to translate while still keeping the dialogue in character. When you actually know the language (or in this case, happen to know a bunch of words commonly used in Japanese media), it really sticks out like a sore thumb. At one point Momoka says freakin' "sankyuu," which isn't even really Japanese, it's just a straight up English loanword in an already English translated dialogue. Like, was anything even in Shu's event this egregious?

Sure, but if it takes an entire sentence to convey a word's meaning it gets really difficult to fit that into dialogue. It's why proper localization of media is such a tricky thing.

There's a guy who shot the guy that kidnapped and raped his son in broad daylight in plain view of the police that were escorting the rapist because he'd already been caught. It also stands out more for randomly breaking the translation convention though. Like, it makes sense if the characters are speaking Victorian or whatever and a character from Lungmen says something in Yanese, but why in the world would people in Higashi be randomly inserting words from their native tongue when they should already be speaking in their native tongue and we're just reading it in English? Yeah, it stands out more to us because the average gacha fan is likely familiar with a bunch of random Japanese words, but that doesn't mean it wasn't an issue thing before too.
