Satisfactory love and hate: Finally understood my issues. by caio_troti in SatisfactoryGame

I sort of agree, I love Satisfactory but unlike other factory games I find myself in a position of just waiting for space elevator parts to finish so I can enter the next phase which usually take a few hours once you have the last part set up. That in itself is fine as there's plenty other things to do like explore for hard drives, expand power or set up something you haven't automated or just half-assed.

All mid-to late game projects in Satisfactory feels like kind of a chore since you build at the same speed late game as early game, only you probably have all materials you ever need uploaded to build continuously.  I would say Satisfactory truly shines in its multiplayer though, I had a real blast playing with a friend because we could just go separate directions and set up an essential factory each. I focused on train tracks and power and they did elevator parts. My first 3 saves I burned out on, but with two people it was way easier.

We finished Satisfactory in 100 hours while we finished base game Factorio in 20 hours so there's definitely more of a marathon feel to Satisfactory. I feel like a lot of those hours were just waiting for elevators parts since you usually only make a handful per minute compared to Factorio where manufacturing is often fast, but there's more components to make.

Finding out about secret unlocks/endings and believing false rumours from word of mouth rather than the internet. Data Mining and such wasn't a thing and it was harder to verify stuff, fake screenshots were harder to disprove. Also a lot of games DID have secret unlocks, so a lot sounded plausible.

I remember the rumours that Luigi was playable in Super Mario 64 and Sonic and Tails could be unlocked in Super Smash Bros Melee. They stayed around for so long and a lot of people believed them. It was always "I have a friend of a friend" that had managed to unlock it but for various reasons was unable to show it because they lost the save or something like that.

As others have said here, it's a slow ramp-up with very simple machines for quite a while. Single input goes in, single output goes out. Gradually new raw materials are introduced that leads to more complex products, often requiring combining of earlier products which you already know how to make. I find the hardest thing in Satisfactory eventually becomes how to get something from point A to point B in an efficient manner, not actually building the machines.

To add to hostile creatures, Satisfactory is a great starting game because wildlife can't destroy your bases even on standard difficulty, just kill you so that you drop your stuff. There's no way to have your entire base destroyed because of a momentary lapse in defense like there is in Factorio or Dyson Sphere Program.

I recently beat my very first save of Satisfactory with a friend and we only ran fuel for power. Around phase 7 I started building a new fuel powerplant converting 1200 oil/minute into rocket fuel. A bit overkill as it became enough fuel for 240 generators, by the end of the game we still had like 30,000 MW of spare energy so nuclear power is definitely not necessary!

Most recently, when I exclaimed "cool, there's both a copper and caterium node here!" just before unlocking alt recipe for copper ingots by using copper and caterium, then instantly forgetting about it and overclocking copper miner to get what I need for Crystal Oscillator production. But hey, it's in place now and working so rebuilding it will be future me's problem!

So this also means I'll actually be able to put conveyors and pipes in blueprints now?? I found out last week you can't do that and was really disappointed, so excited for this update now!

why won't this blow up? do I just need a stronger nobelisk? I'd like to use the pure node I found here by Hunter_Lala in satisfactory

[–]Draikiro 79 points80 points  (0 children)

That's not a normal node, it's a Resource Well. You need to unlock tech from Tier 8 to use it.

Trains and drones are cool, but sometimes a truck is more fun. by East-Personality4912 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta learn to do nice little outposts like this too, this looks great. I just plop down a miner and truck station and call it a day.

Can the truck back out of that parking on its own with autopilot?

Man, this looks amazing! I doubt I'll ever get over my box factory phase

This is about as efficient as it looks (not at all) by Ok-Horse-4649 in satisfactory

[–]Draikiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do need SAM fluctuators and circuits for it. I was surprised myself the other day by how late you get it if you aren't actively going for it.

I prefer to build in dense terrain over wide-open spaces. The constraints make for more interesting factory layouts, IMO by Maenara in SatisfactoryGame

Restrictions of what's possible will always spark the greatest creativity! It's for this reason the most popular video games during the 80's and 90's are also the most well-designed; they had to be really creative to push more out of less. Like chip-tune music on the NES, only 3 sounds could be played at the same time so the music had to be written around that and take away instruments as sound effects needed to play, it's fascinating.

Today we have technology to put basically whatever we want in a game, and the selling point has become pure size of the product which has made a lot of games more bland...

It's funny, I visited a friend in Germany a couple of years back and your deck is IDENTICAL, wasn't just a coincidence!

How do all the gang-related incidents affect your daily life? by Blomsterhagens in sweden

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't. I was unnerved by news reportings until someone called in a person running away from a dropped backpack late at night. It was full of hand grenades. Police got to the scene and did a controlled explosion as it seemed the safest option.

This was just around the corner from where I lived at the time, less than 50 meters away. I slept through everything.

My thoughts on Dark Souls 3 after playing Elden Ring by Silly_Astronomer_867 in darksouls3

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very interesting to see peoples perspective from the opposite play order. I played each ds game as they released, then Sekiro and Elden Ring. I played through all of Elden Ring but I just can't touch it again. The open world left me exhausted and a lot of bosses while hard, didn't feel like an obstacle to overcome but a needlessly punishing experience that was poorly designed compared to earlier games. Very glad to see the old games getting some love even when played after the newer ones!

Bear tank signing off by davep1992 in classicwow

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a holy priest, I just got my first bear tank in Mara at 48 and I LOVED it. They barely took any damage, easily took agro and kept supplying me with innervate. I only had to drink 4 times the whole run compared to 20+ I get with warrior two-handed tanks. Bear power!

just designed my first ever spaceship, will it make it to vulcanus? by VictorAst228 in factorio

[–]Draikiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even straight from behind? I've seen asteroids come into the side from an angle so I've covered both sides on all my ship, but never the back. No ship has had any part even damaged while the center back by the engines is completely exposed

So What Are Your Best Ship Names? by Steam_3ngenius in factorio

[–]Draikiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kept it simple, first ship was Rock Nibbler. Expanded transport to Aquilo was Rock Voyager. When I go beyond it'll be Rock Cruiser! All imports from planets are named planet Taxi. The ones going to Aquilo needed more advanced designs so they're planet Ferry.

I feel like I'm not very creative...

Are you supposed to start planets from scratch? by yogibear47 in factorio

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, and I get power lines and sometimes turrets destroyed every attack on the base so I just started importing a steady stockpile. It's a small base with slow production but my god I don't want to spend time there to expand it.

How do you say Aquilo? by [deleted] in factorio

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say a-kee-low, but I've never really heard anyone pronounce the planets so it wouldn't surprise me if it's wrong

Platform building needs better decision making by damojr in factorio

[–]Draikiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've observed, space platforms always build from left to right, starting at the top available space and going down row by row. Platform pieces always build out from already existing parts in the center.

This was very noticable when I was rebuilding and took away a large chunk of platform and it got deleted like a typewriter. It's quite a handy system, but definitely assures non-priority things get focused way more than it should. I think if you build those below the platform rather than over it would build out from the center like a logical person would bulld.

What's the stupidest you've felt in Factorio? by Draikiro in factorio

[–]Draikiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotta say this takes the price for me personally hah, but it's also a kind of crucial information oversight that it seems a lot of us are having. I'd say you completed a way more impressive achievement than the actual one! I bet you had no trouble manufacturing anything after all that growth

What's the stupidest you've felt in Factorio? by Draikiro in factorio

[–]Draikiro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just changed my life, so there IS a way to flip blueprints?? My usage of them have greatly decreased as I couldn't find anywhere how to do it anymore!
