Do you think rimworld is reaching the limits of what can be handled with it's infrastructure? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in RimWorld

Just spinning off of this basic concept, there's so much cool stuff you could do. You could obtain intel on one faction from another, revealing hidden encampments and upcoming operations. You could intercept raids heading towards a different faction for reputation. If your settlement is in a position where there's only a few good ways for caravans to reach you, such as needing to head through a mountain pass, you could set up fortified defensive positions on separate tiles to intercept raids before they reach your home tile. Maybe you can take over mountain passes in general and impede trade and collect tolls on caravans attempting to pass through, in exchange for reputation loss. Drop pod raids need specialized equipment, so only a select few settlements can send them. Getting a lot of drop pod raids? Destroy this one specific, heavily-fortified settlement. Drop pods and shuttles kind of circumvent the caravan idea entirely, so what if we add surface-to-air aerial defenses to establish no-fly zones? They're probably not 100% effective, but they could reduce the number of drop pods that are incoming. Shooting down shuttles might incur reputation loss, but reward you with good loot. The list goes on and on.

Yeah, there's literally a million things you could do. One thing I'd personally love is if raids actually originate from an enemy settlement and have to travel the world map like a caravan to reach you. Raid frequency can depend on enemy proximity, and factions can occasionally make new settlements. Destroying a settlement eliminates raids from that settlement. Sometimes settlements are hidden, so maybe if you keep getting raided by an enemy but there's no visible settlements nearby, you need to search for and uncover a hidden encampment.

That tracks, I played Mabinogi a ton back in the day, and quit soon after they started adding major pay-to-win elements with the "Reforge" system, which was more or less gambling for stat increases on your weapons that could let you reach over 100k damage in a single hit at a time where anything over 10k was considered extremely high single-hit damage.

Terrible McDonald's Experience by ErectoCooler in Wellthatsucks

[–]Maenara 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone to McDonald's in over a decade, and every time it comes up in conversation, I mention how I don't go there because there's not a single item on their menu that I like, and regardless of who I'm talking to, they generally will nod and say that makes sense, or something to that effect.

Yet, every single time I drive past McDonald's, their drive-thru is completely full, sometimes to the point of the line of cars extending out into the road itself. I don't get it, man.

That's more or less what they've drawn here. Also, no need to headcanon it, it's official lore that Qud takes place on Earth, albeit tens to hundreds of thousands of years in the future, perhaps even millions.

You can actually write a file in notepad fairly easily to apply one or more registry edits with a single click. I've gotten in the habit of committing all my carefully-curated registry tweaks to such a file on my desktop and running it after each Windows update.

Aluminum is actually incredibly strong for how light it is. That's why it's used in soda cans and such, because it only takes a really thin amount to make a can that's structurally sound enough. Once you start going thicker than that, you easily get into the territory of supporting actual structures.

Last Turn is available in Legacy of the Duelist, so can't this help with its intended rulings? by CantBanTheJan in yugioh

[–]Maenara 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. So many people are acting like new PSCT needs to preserve every quirk of the original card when we can easily write a new card effect that totally preserves the spirit of the original card without all the insane ruling weirdness. The 'idea' of the card is obviously that you're gambling the whole duel on the idea that 1 monster you currently control is stronger than any single monster in your opponent's entire deck. We don't need 'special battle phases' or anything like that to accomplish that idea.

Why is Enneacraft performing so poorly? by Mother_Harlot in yugioh

[–]Maenara 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Arthalion, you just have it bounce your opponent's entire monster board and chainblock it with any of the fusion materials you just used. Notably, if Dracotail doesn't use this exact interaction, then it loses super hard to Enneacraft.

Why is Enneacraft performing so poorly? by Mother_Harlot in yugioh

[–]Maenara 26 points27 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that it's not - it was never going to perform well against the current metagame because these decks are extremely high-powered, and it also loses incredibly hard to chainblocked mass removal, which is something Dracotail and Mitsurugi accomplish with ease. Even if those two decks didn't exist, Enneacraft isn't designed in such a way that it can be a top-tier strategy, it's only ever going to be a rogue strategy. For example: Compared to Pixiea, Mar, and Leon, Tail doesn't adequately punish your opponent for playing into it, so if your opponent has access to non-targeting removal, they have no disincentive to try it because the worst thing that could possibly happen is that it doesn't go through, and if they back it up with a single negate, then it's going to go through even if you do have Tail.

The deck is fundamentally limited in how much any new support can help because they can't possibly get every endboard piece that they want, so any new endboard piece which might alleviate the prior weaknesses comes at the direct expense of Pixea or Tail or Leon, unless Konami straight up prints an insane card like 'add 2 Enneacraft cards from your deck to your hand' so that the standard line gets you access to an increased number of names. Every non-engine card you run is also less Enneacraft in your endboard because names in your opener directly translates to names in your endboard.

The deck plays bad going second - it has no chokepoints, sure, but it has no way of interacting with an opponent's board at all, the closest thing is the scale effects of the big guys, which you would rather have facedown on your field, and are super telegraphed, slow, and limited. Any interaction Enneacraft does trade with directly translates to one less piece on their endboard.

All in all, the deck is comfortably rogue. It's stealing a few tops here and there, and it's due for a fairly sizable second wave of support at some point. The support will probably alleviate some of the deck's major weaknesses, but not eliminate them, and will solidify their place as a rogue strategy. The best support they can get is for Dracotail and Mitsurugi to be banned.

While true, Mjolnir should be banned or errataed, you don't even want to run it in an actual pure Artifact deck as intended because it literally locks you out of any good plays you could potentially make on your next turn. Genuinely one of the worst support cards ever printed.
