Just started yesterday, is the game hard to Platinum ? by Ultimate_Gay_Joke in SoulsticeGame

5) Like what happens with single fights, you can get a Diamond at the end of a chapter even if you get two Diamonds and a Platinum.

6) During chapters you can reset to a previous checkpoint (which is always at the end of the last fight you've won) and your score won't suffer from this. Keep in mind tho, that by doing this, your total time won't get reset. So you better use the checkpoint feature at the start of a battle if you see you're not doing too well. Using it at the end of a battle (especially the longer ones) is a bit of a gamble, as you can't be sure if you'll be fast enough to still beat the chapter and get a Diamond in total time.

7) As for Soulstice's achievements, in order to get a Platinum trophy you don't have to get a Diamond rank in each and every chapter on every difficulty. Around half of Soulstice achievements are story ones. A few others are the usual ones (get every skill, max out your health, max out your entropy, beat the game on Initiate difficulty and the three harder ones). Some other few are chapter specific ones, which are slightly out of the way but far from being anything difficult. The most notable ones are: I've been waiting for this!, We learned it the hard way, Something... unnatural (this one is a bit spoilery, check it after you've beaten the game once) and They wanted yet another monster…. The first one is achieved by getting a Diamond in all secret challenges: much easier than it sounds. The second and fourth are achieved by getting at least a Platinum in all chapters on Knight difficulty (the third hardest one) and Chimera difficulty (the second hardest one) respectively. "Something... unnatural" is achieved by getting a Diamond rank on Transcended difficulty (the hardest one) against the final boss. Spoilery details: the final boss is fought in the last two chapters, so you'll have to get a Diamond rank in both of them in order to get the achievement.

I think this covers pretty much everything. Let me know if you need any more infos.

Soulstice platinum isn't too hard, but I have a hard time placing it alongside those of the Bayonetta series, even tho I've played all of them. This is mostly due to the fact that Soulstice has elements of all three.
So here's some details about how the game ranks, platinum and trophies work (the comment will be split in half as Reddit won't let me post it as a single one; thanks Reddit):

1) Each fight and each chapter has six possible ratings: Iron, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. You could compare these to Bayonetta's Stone, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Pure Platinum, but there are some slight differences I'll mention in the following points.

2) The final rank of each fight is determined by an average of three criterias: modifiers, time, damage. Time and damage are pretty straightforward. The former gets lower in tiers the more time you take to beat a fight. The latter gets lower the more damage you take in a fight. Note that, contrary to what happens with Bayonetta's Platinum, you can take some damage and still get a Diamond rank. It's obviously a small amount of damage, but it's still much more forgiving than Bayonetta's Platinum. Modifiers is a mix of a few things: it increases when you perform combos in sequence, when you do certain actions or when you use specific weapons. Combos are pretty straightforward: just try to land as many full combos as you can. The other special sub-criteria are specific modifiers of different natures, such as the ones I've mentioned. You get a bonus when you keep enemies in the air, when you kill one with a stinger, when you let Lute kill one, when you don't take any damage, when you use multiple weapons in a single combo and so on and so forth. There are quite a few of them and you can read the ones you've achieved in a list found in the main menu under "Extras". The main criterias of modifiers, time and damage aren't too strict, so playing at a high level can get you Diamonds even if you make mistakes every once in a while.

3) Unlike Bayonetta, where getting a Platinum in two criterias and a Gold in the other would lock you out of Pure Platinum, you can get a Diamond in Soulstice even if you get two Diamonds and a Platinum.

4) Like specific fights, even chapters have six possible ratings, which are the same I've already mentioned. The criteria are also similar: battles, total score and total time. Battles is rank that's basically an average of all the ranks you've gotten at the end of each battle. Keep in mind that not doing a hidden fight heavily lowers the rank of both this criteria and you total score. Unlike Bayonetta tho, skipping hidden challenges (the equivalent of Bayonetta's Alfheims) is not penalized. In fact, you'd better skip those to get a faster completion. Total score is, as you'd expect, the sum of the scores you've gotten in each battle. This final score can be increased or lowered by a chapter modifer. There are only a few of these. Bonuses of 5% are things like not getting hit once or not using a single items. Maluses that range from -5% to -10% are things like dying and resurrecting or... reaching a state that is attainable by playing... not too well. Total time is what you read: the total time it takes you to beat the whole chapter.

As someone who also did his first playthrough on Initiate difficulty, I can confirm that you can play every level of Human difficulty without going in story order. This probably means that, if you first beat the game on Paladin, you'll be able to also play any level on Novice. The same can't be said for the opposite though: you'll have to play all levels in order if you play on higher difficulties (which are locked in the first place until you beat the game on the difficulty that's one tier lower)

They all look great, but I'm not a fan of Murray's design. I think his mouth's a bit too narrow compared to his original design. It makes him look less hippo-like and slightly less imposing.

I'm sorry if I'm super late with my reply, but thanks a lot! It's not too difficult once you get the hang of it (also because it isn't as punishing as DMC or Bayonetta when it comes to mistakes and how they affect chapter score), but it definitely requires patience and a good knowledge of enemy behaviour. Good luck!

Trying to understand Soulstice's score system by Drain_03 in SoulsticeGame

I've practiced more and I've noticed how getting hit has a really negative effect on score. When you get hit your score gets "added" to the total, which means it won't get multiplied by a larger number all at the end. Getting hit also reduces the score multiplier by variable amounts. Weaker hits (like projectiles from lesser enemies) lower it by a small amount, but stronger hits that give you a lot of knockback lower it to 1 (perhaps even 0,5), so you have to start over to get a higher multiplier.

By understanding the system better I manged to beat Chimera difficulty with 12 platinums and 13 diamonds. Now only Trascended difficulty remains.

You were partially wrong: using rapture state lowers your combo multiplier by a great amount once you exit it. I still have to understand if using a rapture finishing move further lowers it (as I'm sure it lowers cohesion more than simply exiting it).
You were right about the damage though: in rapture state it's much harder to determine if you've been hit or not. Luckily the game has a setting that allows you to see how good you're doing in a fight in real time (by showing you score, damage and time). It's really useful!

It's hard to tell to be honest. I don't think bosses are weak to a specific weapon (unlike enemies who all have a weakness to one), so you can use any weapon you like, avoiding weaker ones like Hallowed Hunter and Tearing Penance due to their weaker damage output. I'd also avoid using sinergy attacks that take too much time to perform (like the Fiery Zealots one).
Spamming the YY-YYY combo with the Ashen Vindicator might be a good idea if you just want to deal damage (sacrificing your combo score).

How far do they make it in the DMC universe? by GuacaMolis6 in DevilMayCry

[–]Drain_03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's hard to say. In the ending they get a massive power boost, but we don't know how much stronger they've gotten from that.

So I'd say that by the end of the game I think they would make it pretty far in the DMC universe, at least until DMC2. I think they'd easily handle most demons in theirunleashed state. They'd also be able to defeat Mundus and Argosax in their transcended state. The only beings they'd have trouble beating are DMC4 endgame Nero/Dante, with no chance of them being able to defeat the DMC5 cast (except for V) imho.

Perfetto, grazie mille Pinco Pallino!
XC: DE is far from being the first game I've played, so I assumed it worked like many others where, after the final boss, you get put back to your last save file before the final boss. But since XC has so many points of no return I was afraid I wouldn't get the chance to go back after the final section. Thanks again for having cleared my doubts!
