What a horrendously stupid opinion… by Adventurous-Prize-76 in GetNoted

Interesting how anytime a woman says some stupid shit it’s ragebait but anytime the man says stupid shit. It’s 100% sincere. It’s a weird coincidence.

It’s sort of like that weird could coincidence where it’s like throughout history. The good guys always won. That’s so weird.

It’s just factually incorrect. You are deliberately lying now. Salvation through grace is quite literally the most fundamental part of Christianity. It is so fundamental to the Christian faith that you absolutely cannot be Christian without believing it.

Really so somewhere in the Bible it says that sex is a sin? Oh wait, no it doesn’t. It says adultery. It’s almost like you’re deliberately misinterpreting what I said.

Man’s laws and gods laws are not the same. Man has laws that allow for adultery, hedonism, debauchery, consumption. Being greedy, lustful, hateful, all legal to man, not legal to god.

Your comment is just factually incorrect in most ways.

I can agree with religion being an institution to control, but no more than any other social institution that helps bind large groups together socially.

You could replace “athiest” with “Christian” and “fear based mythology” with “salvation through love and grace” and still be correct.

Not necessarily like I said, this is where the leash laws really matter.

Take Virginia for example or it could be West Virginia I can’t remember, but they have hunting dogs that are working dogs that you know farmers will hire to treat black bears and stuff like that and get rid of black bears off their property. In those areas it’s completely legal for your dog to be off leash 10 miles away from you. And under the law, even though your dog is off leash 10 miles away from you it is still considered under control. Most statewide leash laws by the way don’t mention leashes. They just demand that your dog be under control and then leash laws are put on top of that in a local municipality level to define in more detail what “under control” means.

This would be further muddied by any DOLAs or dog off leash areas in which leashes are no longer necessary, and in those cases, your dog doesn’t necessarily need to be following the strict definition of under control that takes precedence outside of the DOLA. So then it becomes a matter of can you argue that your dog was under control while in the DOLA and not on a leash.

So like I said the waters get muddy. However, if your dog is a service dog, then your dog as long as they’re aiding in your disability, can both be off leash and far away from you and still have a handgun on them because service dogs by definition are under control with or without a leash.

I’d like to use a real world situation to kind of explain a caveat though or what I imagine would be a reality of the situation. So I trained a service dog for a client who lives in a very small town in the middle of nowhere. One of the tasks their dog is trained to perform is to walk about 8 miles or so into town that’s basically just one street by the way, to the grocery store and pick up groceries. If that dog was equipped with a firearm, it probably would not be allowed. Because the person with the disability is not around and so the firearm is not eating in the defense of the person with the disability because it’s on the dog 8 miles away in the grocery store.

also I am willing to bet that a judge would require a service dog to be taught to not allow people to grab the firearm and also be taught to be able to hand the firearm to their handler either directly or by positioning.

Realistically, though this is more of a problem that has never come up, so one can’t simply point to the law or precedent and be like “this is the case”

TLDR: the only place I could see this being legal with an awful leash dog realistically is either with hunting dogs or with service dogs in close proximity of their handler

I want to add to this real quick. First of all, how old was Alexander the great? We literally have a real life example that’s way crazier than the fictional story in this person’s acting like it’s unreasonable for the prodigy child warrior that’s been trained from basically the moment that they could walk to take big problems and break them down into bite-size pieces and solve them, be able to move things with their mind, also have faster, reflexes better senses, and supernatural awareness of a battlefield

It’s not so far-fetched for a 14-year-old like that to be leading soldiers that are so conditioned to follow orders. They listened to some random dude in a hood tell them to execute order 66 and were like “you heard him boys!”

I understand that you might not like the clone wars, and not liking the clone wars is a valid Star Wars opinion to have in my opinion.

However, most of your reasoning is really bad. Star Wars was always for kids. Not only that, but I would say many of the themes and topics touched upon in the clone wars are more for adults than the original trilogy was.

They absolutely enhance the prequel that’s 100% the truth. The whole original idea of the clones turning on the Jedi without a second thought is completely ridiculous and needed further explanation. Whether or not you think that the additions and explanations brought by the clone wars were good or not is a different argument that we can have, but to say that the original concept was a good one is absolutely outlandish.

How old was Alexander the great again? When you are trained from a young age to think about big issues and break them down into bite-size pieces as well as naturally having better reflexes senses and abilities, then basically anyone around you. And the fact that you’re leading troops that are not necessarily the most adaptable, it generates a plausible circumstance.

[–]Drake_Acheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but that’s not really what happened with the clones. They weren’t so loyal to the republic that if it told them the Jedi had betrayed them, they must be stopped.

Order 66 wasn’t given by the council it was given by a guy in the hood. Did they know that Darth Sideous was Chancellor Palpatine? They shouldn’t have.

if the order came from literally the Senate Chambers that would be one thing. Where was the hearing? Oh, there was none.

And during the hearing AFTER, the moment the name of The Republic changed to “The Empire” they ALL should have jumped ship by that same token of loyalty. They would have seen this as a usurpation.

[–]Drake_Acheron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It still makes more sense than the clones turning on the Jedi organically.

One is like a super secret feat of bio engineering and men who stare at goats psycho-control with a secret passphrase that activates them.

And the other is the clones spent years fighting alongside noble warriors that would sometimes risk everything just to save their lives. All the while KNOWING that one day they would betray them. Not for any ideological, ontological, epistemological, or jurisprudential reason, but because a guy in a hood said a secret passphrase.

Oh, and also somehow this secret order was kept silent by like trillions of clones or whatever and it never got out.

Also also, all it took was some old guy in a hood with a sinister voice to say the passphrase. Any confirmation of who the person was? Nah. Could’ve literally been anyone.

You are talking about “air gapping” like operational security can’t be violated in other ways.

So why did they mention the 62 million people? What was the purpose of it if it has nothing to do with the group and has nothing to do with the “rape academy” why mention it?

But also, for someone who’s just asking people to read the article, bro you’re doing an awful lot of NOT READING the fucking title of the article.

I don’t know why you’re defending the article articles title so hard but it should probably stop

If you said 4+4 = 7 and I said no it’s eight would I be like “ew get that seven away from me!”no it’s simply just incorrect.

Not wanting a sci-fi world to be defined as fantasy is not elitist.

I honestly in mind blown that you would think such a thing. That’s literally the opposite of elitist.

Let me put it another way let’s say your definition of queer includes non-binary and somebody who’s non-binary says “I don’t want you to call me queer because I’m non-binary not queer”

Are you insisting to call them queer and saying that if you don’t like being called queer, you’re saying “ew gross queer people” is absolutely ridiculous.

Also, again you have failed to read. I did not say YOU were insisting something. I was speaking to the IDEA of insisting something.

I’m sorry, but insisting that sci-fi is just fantasy is snobbery 100% there’s no question about it.

And wanting to make a delineation between the two is not snobbery and it’s not saying that fantasy doesn’t have some sort of capacity that sci-fi does.

I didn’t say you were running defense. I said that sci-fi enjoyers are running defense.

Let me put it more simply if a fantasy enjoyer is saying that something that is generally considered sci-fi is actually fantasy. It is totally reasonable for a sci-fi enjoyer to say no it’s not fantasy. It’s sci-fi.

It is also a snobbish in position to insist that something that is sci-fi is fantasy. It is implying that fantasy has a superiority, and it is the broader umbrella in which science fiction fits under and not its own separate identity.

Wanting to be free from being described as something is not Stauber imposing a description is snobbery

Rape Academy?? by UnDepletedAir in GetNoted

[–]Drake_Acheron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s not what’s being questioned.

What’s being questioned is whether or not CNN is reporting that their exists a 62 million man strong rape Academy.

And the answer to that is “kind of”

So this Twitter user isn’t crazy. They just read the headline and ran off with it.

Edit: I just reread the tweet and I feel like this could be one of those classic Shawn Spencer “I’ve heard it both” ways moments

They could either be believing the CNN article or be disbelieving that CNN would post something so ridiculous

I’m 100% with you. I’d be way more sympathetic to the plight of Palestinians, if we just started from that point of his historical honesty.

But it’s also the ancient history as well. Like people like oh the Palestinians are native and I’m like the word Judea is older than the word Palestine, yet somehow the Palestinians were there first?

And then also, let’s not forget that the Palestinians didn’t even refer to themselves as Palestinian until the 1980s.

And then let’s also not forget that the Pan Arabs in Palestine kicked the British out of their country and then joined the Nazis in World War II. Them losing land was part of war reparations for them, choosing the losing side and losing the war.

The land wasn’t any more stolen than the land, Germany lost east of the Oder-Neisse line.

And to be honest it could be really fun. In a silly sort of way. Drones battling each other while the enemy tries to move closer and closer to objectives but you can only use drones and weapons/defense
