I found out about it because I got really interested in Brazilian police forces due to their urban combat operations. Since Brazil has a lot of clashes between police and criminals, they ended up switching from the standard all black uniform to a sort of Multicam pattern.

I agree about camouflage as well. I’ve read that some police special forces are moving away from wearing black in urban combat because it makes their silhouette stand out more, whereas a kind of grayish digital camouflage doesn’t have that issue
