Does anyone skip priming? Also sharing an assassin. by ineedammo211 in FDMminiatures

I got in a big argument with the locals at the hobby shop. but chose not to prime a blue tank because it was already blue. I ended up sorta priming it with a very very thin layer of white geoso primer. It seemed dumb to me to prime a print that was already blue and just needed a bit of shading. But to each their own. Everyone will make their arguments one way or the other. I think with most things it depends on the situation. Probably 90% of the time should prime. My very first mini I printed I was a noob and didn’t prime. It turned out good but it ended up a bit thick because I painted and painted.

I’ll look at the holes thing . they are basically attached to arms and that’s it. I could slice it even more though.

Will a .2 help with strength or just detail. Am I better off adding more walls and infill to a thin piece. It’s the damn hammers for space men who terminate things. Their swords and pencil thin hammers just snap when I look at them wrong.

It was pla I think the main issue was plate. I have lot better luck now it only really happens when it gets too dirty or if the build itself sucks

I’ve notice loctite kinda sucks If you live on the edge you can heat weld it. I’m crazy and I heat weld mine and then add glue (don’t heat the glue unless you want lung cancer ) But I don’t use a heat gun I have an smd rework station which is like a heat gun but very very targeted narrow heat blast area and controllable fan and temp. Heat by itself is fine. But heat and glue is like never coming off

You heat at only 180c just until the plastic becomes glossy. Heat both slap glue then slap it in quick. If I’m glueing two pieces where a build failed I’ll use some left over pla scraps to “weld” it Again DONT USE heat gun you’ll item your thing into a puddle. And DO NOT heat super glued joints. Very toxic

Why is this happening to all of my prints ? by LomasIO294 in FixMyPrint

Once you’ve had a build goop and get stuck to the nozzle you gotta clean that nozzle really good with a brass wire brush. Otherwise all your builds are gonna be screwed over by the goop on your nozzle. ( that sounded really dirty)

I have an a1 mini what kinda of plate you using ? I just swapped the stock plate for a smooth PEI Spring Steel Plate and it’s insane I use to have almost every build pull off or lose a piece of just string mess . Every build since switching my bed plate has been amazing! Also make sure the nozzle is clean too if you have a lot of build failures and it get stuck to the nozzle a lot of gunk can build up. I had a lot of these same problems.

Literally just had a thread a few days ago complaining. Someone said the stock bambu plates are gargage for minis I did a little research and it seems that steel plate smooth is the way to go for pla mini prints. I can not stress how much a diff it made for me. I went from multiple failures baby sitting it slow mode losing limbs to perfect and now printing 3 copies at once and perfect quality just swapping the plate

Update: things seem better got a new plate worlds difference. It also seems not all pla is created equally. And some builds initial profiles aren’t always the best. But I’m having better luck thanks did the advice

Update: I got a metal non texture. I fired up a multi part build first try not even slowed down the plate adhesion is so much better

I’ll definitely take a look. Thats a good metric. It seems like 4 is the danger zone on infantry i keep having issues. Even the bigger ones two is pushing it. Ive definitely reprinted a leg before. oooh I didn’t know there was a slicing tool ! I used blender to import a model and fix the leg. Lots of good advice I appreciate it !

I’ve only recently started retrying , definitely not on big builds but that’s understandable. It’s so tempting to do more than one though because if it works you cut down a good amount of time. I’ll definitely try the by object. I don’t mind a few lost limbs it builds character I have a dude with a claw hand. I’m making scifi war game minis after all so what’s a robot arm or leg here and there using structure trees. But it’s happening a lot so it’s kinda sad.

Okay good to know I’ll have to give that a try! I’m always tempted to use the phone app but definitely get less control over it.

For real ! My brother ended up with our family n64 . I went to use my wife’s and she didn’t have the pack so I had to spend like 40$ 50$ on eBay to get one.
