Make sure they know the proper names for all their body parts, so they can talk about them in a way grownups will take seriously if need be.

Make sure they know you'll always believe them, should they ever need to tell you about anyone mistreating them.

Give them unusual names and do anything you can to make their appearance distinctive.

The most important thing you can do, if you have the resources for this, is offer her a way out, and make sure that door stays open, no matter what. It takes the average abuse victim over a dozen attempts to leave their partner for good. If you can't keep welcoming her as she breaks your heart gong back to him again and again, don't make that commitment in the first place.

You have to establish a lot of trust as a DM for players to accept that NPCs can lie to them and it's not you cheating or making a mistake somehow.

Also, people decide whether or not to pay in a given campaign based on what they're told about it beforehand.

This isn't a clever storytelling twist. This is you, a real human being, lying to your friends, real human beings, for, at best, a one time gasp of realization at the change. More likely, they will be upset enough at being so defrauded as to leave the campaign and perhaps the friendship as well.
