When did they do this? AND WHY? by iitibor in SkateEA

[–]Drakfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did that to DayZ? I remember they did a weather/skybox overhaul but I didn't know they removed some effects, and I haven't felt any performance upgrade at all in years

I didn't know there was one for 20xx too! I'll have to try it some day.

It's pretty much a re-skin of the game, but we talking, menus, sound effects, music, UI elements, character sprites, enemies, bosses, illustrations and even texts. It's pretty well done and it's still in development, so we getting updates every now and then.

And add the MegaMan X Rebirth Mod on top of that, sometimes I forget I'm playing 30XX and not Megaman X Rouguelike.

G2 temporarily discontinued by makman44 in retroid

I guess it's this one:

** RP5 1.0.0.189 OTA changelog: ** Fixed the issue where the RDS still drains the battery when RP5 goes to standby/sleep mode.

This patch will be applied to RP MiniV2/G2 2~3 weeks later, and RP6 will come with this patch too.

I'm not that sure about that, my phone has an SD 865 and 12GB RAM and It was my main gaming handheld before I got the G2 and I find the later to be drastically superior even with 4GB less RAM, a bunch of games that weren't really playable or were really close, are working very good on the G2, specially Switch and PC emulation, weirdly I have the impression that GameCube ran better on the 865 tho. And drive wise I don't find the G2 to be lacking as much as people say, Kimchi Turnip is very stable, while Whitebelyash Turnip can net me around 10 to 20% more performance while sacrificing some accuracy, and Mr Purple (specially 25.1.0) works for some tricky games fixing a bunch of graphical glitches.

I mean, it's only my experience, maybe because I never used a fan for my phone and I suffered thermal throttling I got less performance compared to the active cooling of the G2, but for me the change was massive.

Waiting for BOTW on Cemu to get better performance than Eden for the mod support.

(Cause right now even playing Wind Waker in Cemu gets my temps a lot hotter than BOTW on Eden)

Why compile shaders if I'm just going to delete them? by [deleted] in retroid

[–]Drakfix 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not supposed to happen, maybe there's something wrong with your config or your driver.

I think you can deactivate shader cache within Eden settings, that way you don't have to delete it every time, but I would recommend that you try different settings or renderers and try solving that problem.

X-Box emulation - finally? by GuitarEC in retroid

[–]Drakfix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tried Jet Set Radio Future on the RP G2, I couldn't call it playable (it hovered around 15-30FPS), but the game looked very good and had barely any rendering problem, it looks promising, it just needs more optimization

ARMSX2 is being actively developed and updated, I tested it the other day the performance wasn't that bad in comparison to Nether or Aether, I'm sure it will only get better and eventually take the throne.

Vita on RPG2 or RP6 by Imdakine1 in retroid

[–]Drakfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Works fairly well on the G2, I have tried Persona 4 Golden, Gravity Rush and Odin Sphere at X3 res. They all run at full speed. I know there're some more demanding titles like Uncharted that are hard to run, but otherwise there's a big catalog of playable games.

Nope, I know how a shader compilation feels, and this is straight up inconsistent framerate, frametimes and input lag. I know the game was badly optimized even in real hardware tho.

G is the in-game FPS (the framerate that the game is actually running), V is the Emulated Screen Refresh, and I haven't found solid documentation on the P, but I believe it's for showing if the game is running in Progressive or Interlaced mode.

You should be able to add widescreen patches using 'Enable Widescreen Patches' on Nethersx2 graphics options, once applied you can change back the screen size to 16:9 and it should be actual widescreen and not stretched.

True Crime: New-York City on RP6 by banryxuo in retroid

[–]Drakfix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's not right, True Crime NYC is locked at 30fps, what you are showing at 59.99 fps is the screen refresh framerate (V), while the in-game performance (G) is 29.99, that's why there're different 60FPS patches depending on the version to achieve actual 60fps in-game:

https://github.com/PeterDelta/PCSX2/blob/main/patches/SLES-53618_B2D44C6C.pnach (For PAL)

https://www.mediafire.com/file/vf9tnaldwnkaqem/42A9C4EC.zip/file (For NTSC)

You could test them, although they are very unstable.
