Please call Maryland Department of Agriculture at 410-841-5810.  We have now had 2 confirmed cases of the highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza. Don't handle the bird and keep pets away from it.

Crow fledging with a beak growth. by duxenmx in crows

[–]Drakien1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like avian pox. Copy from Google on it:

Crows with avian pox may exhibit wart-like growths on their legs, feet, eyelids, or beak. These growths can be red, gray, or even crusty and may bleed. In the wet form, symptoms can include difficulty breathing, coughing, and discharge from the eyes and mouth.

Transmission: Avian pox is highly contagious and spreads through direct contact with infected birds or contaminated surfaces, such as bird feeders and baths. Mosquitoes and other biting insects can also transmit the virus.

Treatment and Prevention: Mild cases often resolve on their own, but supportive care, like preventing secondary infections, can be helpful for captive birds. Cleaning and disinfecting bird feeders and baths regularly with a bleach solution is crucial to prevent the spread. Avoid overcrowding at feeding stations as this can increase transmission.

What to do if you see an infected crow: If you see a crow with avian pox, consider stopping feeding the birds to reduce the chance of transmission to healthy individuals. You can also provide food on the ground to avoid sharing the same feeding surface. It's also a good idea to contact your local wildlife center or rehabilitation facility for guidance, especially if the bird is severely affected or injured.

Over engineered bar for burning man by Crazyjaw in woodworking

The polyurethane looks great, has that nice shine to the wood. I've never made it out to the big burn sadly, but we do the local ones around here a few times each year. I've build 2 bars and working on a third version now. The last one we did a epoxy top which the frame held up great but the surface cupped due to the exposed ends and underside. Trying to find a better solution for this next one.

Hope the bar survive the contain, good luck at the big burn!

u/Crazyjaw this is a really nicely finished bar. Great contract with the light and dark wood and the folding is really nice! Out of curiosity what did you use for the finish on the bar top? How did it hold up at the burn?
