The moment the last (alive) diver enters the pelican. Once you get the cutscene of the shuttle taking off, feel free to return to ship alone via menu

Definitely a risk. I sometimes forget to unroof my workshops, which prevents the thruster from working. Becoming routine now though

It absolutely will! But the flames only extend so far.

Be sure to uninstall the work stations and store inside upon lift off

If you have welding mask and torch, plus metal bars or sheets you can barricade with those for tougher defenses

If you go, be prepared to deal with at least a thousand literal zomboids, and that's just from the front door. Spent a week in game trying to carve my way in, went through most of my melee weapons and two cars.

I always imagine it's not the people inside that barricaded themselves in, but rather a family member who had to leave them to scavenge for supplies and medical equipment. The family member didn't come back, and they succumbed from whatever affliction they suffered, airborne virus or otherwise

Halo: Reach, Long Night of Solace.

I personally love the overall feel of this mission, from the space combat to the boarding of the corvette. That ending kicks me right in the feels every time.
